Mackenzie had been laying on the broken down love seat while Hunter had been woking on fixing the curtains. They had found the broken down couch on the side of the road that summer, and brought it back to their little home in the trees. It had taken them several tries, and a lot of injuries to finally get the couch up to the treehouse but it had been worth it in the end. They had been spending more and more time there, sometimes not bothering to leave. They had their sleeping bag, and they had both ben small enough to fit on the couch together up until about a month ago.
They still tried though, everything had been so rocky at home for Mackenzie that she preferred to stay out of the house most of the time. After her father left, her mother had started blaming her for a lot of things. It had only gotten ugly once but it had been enough for the blonde girl, she had made sure to only go home when her sister was around or when she knew Kate was in an okay mood.
Today had been like any other, they had hiked out to the treehouse after waking up and spent the whole day there. Hunter had decided to make the curtain rod her project for the day after it had almost taken Mackenzie's head off. Mack had fiddled with the hinges on the door a bit, retiring to the house after giving up. Now Hunter had finally gotten around to excuting her plan and Mackenzie listened to her yelling before hearing the hammer slam into the wall.
All of a sudden, Hunter was screaming and shoving a bloody thumb in her face. Mackenzie jumped off the couch quickly, a look of sheer panic on her face. Her sister had just left for school again, and there was no way that they could take an injury like this to their mothers. "Fuck!" She squeeked, her hands flying instantly to her head in panic as she wracked her brain to remember what little muggle first aid Kia had taught her.
Running to her satchel, she rummaged around before producing a tube of germ killing ointment and a box of band aid's. "Come 'ere!" She muttered, grabbing Hunter's hand and wiping the blood away as best she could with the inside of her t-shirt. It was a real shame too, it was her favorite Batman shirt that she had stolen from her older brother Alex. "You gotta' be more careful Hunt!" She scolded as she bandaged the girl up. "We don't get Kia back 'till Thanksgivin' and you know we can't go ask moms for anything."
