After texting Arnaud, checking the school website for his room number, and talking herself up for a few minutes she finally pulled on her sneakers and skipped up the stairs. She paced outside his room for a few seconds before steeling her nerves and knocking on the door.

Thorny answered and a huge grin blossomed when he realized who it was. "My favorite month," he said cheerfully. "Come on in."

No laughed lightly, pushing her hair behind her ear as she stepped inside. "Hey," she said quietly. She went to put her hands in her pockets, a nervous habit of hers but her dress didn't have any pockets so her hands just slipped down her dress where pockets should have been. Awkward. "How are you?" she asked cringing a little at how silly she felt.

"Awesome now," he said enthusiastically. He moved a pile of books of his bed by pushing them straight onto the floor with a clatter. In the same moment he kicked a pile of dirty clothes under the bed. "Make yourself comfortable."

She could see now what he meant about having a messy room, she didn't mind though. "Thanks!" She beamed at him and took a seat on his bed, her legs didn't quiet reach the floor from where she sat so she let her legs kick back and forth a little. She had no idea where to start though, grinding her fists into her knees a little she watched him nervously. "So... there's this thing that's coming up," she mumbled. "I don't usually... you know... do those things but I just thought maybe it might be fun... to go. To prom, maybe." Disaster.

He plunked down beside her, not so close that the house parent walking by would be alarmed. "Word," he said nodding stupidly. The whole thing had gone completely over his head.

She felt herself getting redder. "Right," she nodded, she was almost ready to just get up and run back downstairs in her embarrassment but then she was sure she would never hear the end of it. She was here, might as well make it count. "Do you wanna go with me?" she asked in a rushed sentence, her eyes big.

"Oh. Shit dude." He tossed her a rock and roll sign, beaming brightly. "Fuck yeah. Let's do this thing." He leaned over and hugged her awkwardly. "It would be my absolutle frickin' honor to take you."

No laughed in relief, at least the hard part was over. "Really?" she asked excitedly, squishing herself to his side a little in their awkward hug. "Cool," she nodded a little stupidly. "I don't usually go to dances but I thought hey... might be fun right?" No shrugged.

"Fuck yeah. We can rock out on the dance floor or spike the punch or whatever. It'll be fucking great." Then the reality snuck in a bit. "I suppose I need to find a nice dress jacket, yeah?"

She grinned. "Maybe a little bit of both. What's your poison?" she asked. "Don't worry, I have to find a dress too," she admitted a bit ruefully. "You're gonna look boss in a jacket though."

"I'll drink anything I can get my hands on, but us Nikitin boys have a weak spot for scotch." He shrugged happily and clapped his hands in his lap. "You think I can get away with jeans if I wear a tuxedo t-shirt?"

"Scotch huh?" she wrinkled her nose a bit. "It doesn't serve my delicate lady sensibilities well." November couldn't help but giggle at the image of Thorn in a tuxedo t-shirt and jeans. "You can try," she beamed at him. "I think it would be cute but the professors might turn you around at the door."

"I'll see if I can't clean up a bit more than that," he offered. He wondered if maybe this sweet girl wouldn't regret inviting him out before long. "So uh. Anything I need to do?" Usually he just went out in the woods and got shitfaced on prom. Never bothered to go to the dance.

"I don't think so," she had never been to one of these things before and had no idea what sort of etiquette was appropriate. "As long as we're having fun right?" she grinned. Now that she was thinking about it, she was getting a little nervous. She didn't dance... ever... at least not in public. Dancing was definitely one of those things she did behind closed doors. Maybe if she was lucky Arnaud would give her a few lessons before the dance about what was typical in public dancing. Or maybe she should just get a little tipsy before they left.

"Like flowers or something?" he said with an odd hand gesture that was supposed to represent flowers but looked more like he was struggling with a rubik's cube. "Isn't that like a prom thing?"

"Oh!" She had to think. Was that a thing? "Right, I forgot about that," she laughed. This had to be one of the most unconventional pairings going to the prom. "I think so, but you don't have to if you don't want to," she shrugged a little though the idea of getting flowers was pretty sweet and it made her smile a little bigger.

"And clearly I'm bringing a flask," he said with a smarmy wink. "So yeah. It's a date"

"Oh me too," she laughed, giving him a little nudge. At the word date she froze a little like a deer in the headlights. "Definitely," in a spur of the moment decision she reached up and gave him a little peck on the cheek. "Well... I should get going," she had some dancing in her room to do.

"All right," he said with a bob of his head. "Rockin'." He grinned at the little kiss and waved to her as she left his room. Then he started to think of where he could get a hold of a respectable jacket for the dance.

"See you around," she said as she left his room. No practically bounded down the hallway. She had about eighty people to squeal at.
