It was their first weekend off from college and Romy was feeling kind of nervous. She wasn't sure how Dudley's family was really going to feel about her. Sure, they'd like her well enough when she was just his friend and he was dating Pyxis, but now it was completely different.
She shifted awkwardly in front of the door with her dish of cheesecake she'd made and looked at Dudley. "Are we sure we're ready for this?"

Rooney didn't know where Thoreau was off to, but it was the night before their first day of school and he was kind of pissed off about it. He frowned as he glanced out of his bedroom window at the street beneath them, waiting to see if Thoreau was going to show up or not.
He pulled out his phone and checked his texts, but nothing. Thoreau hadn't sent him anything at all. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

The first day of school. Pansy knew that Draco wasn't feeling up to it, but she wanted to get him out and about. And he couldn't skip the first day of school. It was kind of required. She'd managed to get him into the car, which was a big step for him. Even if she knew that he was going through a lot, she still thought he was being a baby.
"Come on, Draco darling. It's not that bad." Pansy told him. "I doubt you even have any classes with him. Right, Theo?"

Walden was excited about school starting. He and Pyxis still had a lot of supplies to buy and they'd kind of been planning to go together, but then there was the fact that they were both dating other people to consider. Sometimes it was difficult to remember that. So they'd made it into a sort of double date. He looked down at Romy and smiled at her. "After Pyxis and I grab out textbooks, we can all go get lunch together."
Dudley felt awkward around Pyxis now. He kept thinking about the way he and Romy had been when Walden and Pyxis were gone. He liked Walden and Pyxis both a lot, and Pyxis was gorgeous and fun and everything. His eyes just... kept drifting to Romy with Walden's arm around her. "Going to school in London," Dudley said. "It's exciting, isn't it?" He paused, frowning a bit. "Well, I guess you're used to it. You're from here."

Draco wasn't looking forward to this. He hadn't called ahead or answered any calls or texts from Merlin or given him any indication that he still knew the other boy was alive. Pansy had covered for him with his mother and he'd been sleeping on the cot in Romy's room, as planned. Except for the drunken detour to Museum Charlie's flat. But it was the day before the start of school and he needed to do this before they were thrust into college together.
He took a deep breath, knocking on Merlin's door. He'd rehearsed a big speech in his head over and over on the way here. He was going to be good about this. Calm and righteous and he wouldn't cry or yell and he'd leave Merlin feeling sorry that he'd fucked everything up. Draco had it all planned out, and then his father opened the door. They blinked at each other in surprise for a moment. Draco could feel his resolve crumbling and his speech leaving his head. "I -- I want to see Merlin."
Lucius felt awkward, looking down at his son. He had to know about him and Evan splitting by now. "Of course," he said. "I've been --" He cleared his throat. "I was just stepping out for a moment. Merlin!" Lucius looked over his shoulder as he slipped his feet into a pair of shoes. "Draco's here to see you!"

It was very obvious that Lucius was working later and later and more hours a week than he normally had. Evan understood that Lucius had an important job and that he was also checking in on Merlin a bit and taking him groceries. Evan was thankful for this, of course, but he missed his husband. He was spending all his time alone in a flat because Rowan had decided he'd be staying with his mother. And Evan didn't have children of his own.
He was sitting alone and sulking to himself, reading a magazine he wasn't actually interested in when Luciius came in. Evan was unsure if he should even try to touch him. The last few times he'd tried to be intimate, the other man had told him he was tired and immediately went to bed. Evan ran his eyes over him, then looked back down at his magazine, feeling like bursting.

Romy had felt really guilty since Walden had come back from Spain. She'd missed hanging out with just Dudley, but she knew she couldn't just hang around the flat all day. And she kind of missed her friends, if she was being honest. So much had gone on and she'd not been around them for a while. So, she'd sat up a lunch date after reading through all her texts from Pansy.
She smiled as she took a seat at the table with Draco, kissing his cheek. "I have missed you. I want to know every thing that's gone on in your life." She told him, slipping her hand into his.

Walden couldn't believe the day was finally here. He and Pyxis were getting on a plane and flying off to Spain and they were going to have the time of their lives. He got his backpack from the boot of the taxi the four of them had taken to the airport, leaning in and kissing Romy. "I'll send you emails whenever I have wifi," he promised. "I'm going to miss you."
"Don't have too much fun in Spain without me," Dudley said, smiling at Pyxis and holding his arms out to her. He was doing his best not to show that he was a little nervous about her going off with Walden on her own. That didn't seem like a nice way to act right before she took a trip. "Take lots of pictures, yeah?"

Draco was lonely. Pansy still wasn't talking to him and Merlin was working all the time. He got that Merlin had to work, but it would be nice if when he didn't he wasn't working Merlin texted him more. Or was at least nicer to him. Draco had already planned out what he was going to make for Merlin for dinner that night and he'd practiced cooking the chicken and vegetables in the oven at home a couple times and he thought he had it down, so maybe this time Merlin wouldn't go on a rant about how useless Draco was and tell him he never lifted a finger.
For now, he was camped out in the dinosaur section of the Natural History Museum because it was always busy and at least if there were lots of tourists walking around while he sat on a bench and stared at an old skeleton he felt less like this was the end of one of the worst summers ever. Draco fiddled with his phone, contemplating texting Pansy or Merlin again for the millionth time, but the long list of unresponded to texts to Pansy kind of put him off, and if he texted Merlin at work Merlin might tell him off for it.

Rider knew Romy was dating Walden or whatever, but he wasn't going to let that get in the way. Romy still had sex with him before. He didn't see why Walden living in London should change that. Except... it kind of had. She had some weird fluffy kitten that was living with them now and she was always going to see him and Rider was very put out about it. Even if Walden wasn't trying to kill him because Rider and Romy hadn't really been alone together so he assumed he'd talked them out of having sex together or something.
He looked at the kitten, curled up on top of the living room couch, and sighed. Romy was out or something and Rider was the only one currently home. He reached out and scooped the cat up, rubbing his face against her and then walking into the kitchen. "What do you eat?" he asked, opening the fridge. "You probably don't want jerky." He took out some cold chicken, sitting at the kitchen island. "I'll feed you and we'll be friends from now on."

Merlin was so tired. It was Wednesday night and the fast food place he was working at was jam packed all night. His feet were sore and he smelled like a giant grease ball. Worst of all, he was too tired to even take off his uniform. He sighed heavily as he fell onto his couch, curling up into a ball and letting out a loud groan, slipping his shoes off.
This was just him getting by. This was him making a better future for himself and not taking handouts. He was a big boy.

Merlin had found a job working in a fast food joint. And while it wasn't the most glamourous of jobs, it was helping him pay the rent. He'd been working there nearly a week and everything he owned, including his hair, all smelled like a giant french fry. And his hands had mustard stains. All he really wanted to do was go home and take a bath and sleep. Maybe wank.
He walked into his flat and took off the dumb hat they made him wear, tossing it aside, then saw Draco standing in his kitchen. It was Friday night, wasn't it? "Hey."

Radley wrapped an arm around Laney's shoulder and smiled at her, kissing her temple. "You shouldn't look so nervous. We're going to see my Dad. It's not that big of a deal." He slid his hand into hers and grinned. "You look like you're going to prison and a woman already claimed you as hers."
Rooney kissed down Thoreau's neck to try and wake him up. He'd gotten breakfast for him and put it on a tray so he could eat it in bed. "Wake up." He whispered against his ear, biting it gently and rubbing their hips together. "I brought you bacon and waffles with chocolate on them."

[23 May 2013|03:23am] |

Walden was excited. Maybe his mother and gran hadn't come to visit him like Dudley's, but they had sent him a care package in the post. He knew some of what to expect -- vegan chocolate and some cat treats for Winky, maybe a few shirts and things -- but still. He'd never gotten post at his own flat before. He walked into the flat from picking his mail up. Walden was a morning person so nobody else was up yet, besides the cats. He let Loras pounce on him when he walked into the kitchen, getting out a couple treats to distract him with. "You really are a little princess of a kitten, aren't you?" he asked, grinning down at him and scratching him behind the ears. "Let me open my very first package."
Part of him wanted to wait until Pyxis and Dudley woke up so they could see too, but that would be a bit too much like showing off and also he wasn't sure he could wait that long. "Sometimes the simple things in life are the best," he informed Loras, who wasn't really paying any attention to him now that he had his treats. Walden was used to the fickle way of cats though. He fished a knife out of the drawer and slit the tape sealing the box. Another reason he didn't want to wait until Pyxis and Dudley woke up was that he didn't really want to know whether they'd slept together again the night before or not. He'd had music on when he fell asleep to try and block out any potential sounds. He should call Romy and try and get her to spend the night again. Maybe the weekend before the summer was over. Walden really, really wanted to just... be friends with Pyxis. Be good to her. Good for her. She deserved to have a friend who ddin't have ulterior motives.
And Dudley was his best friend. Dudley deserved a girlfriend like Pyxis and Pyxis deserved a boyfriend like Dudley. They were both good people with good hearts who Walden could hurt and he was a vegetarian becoming a vegan because he didn't want to hurt anybody. Especially not the people he cared about.
He put the knife away, going through the things his mother and gran had sent him. Shirts, some pants for wearing around the house, some cat treats and vegan treats. Plus, lots and lots of pictures of the cats, each with a report on how the cats were doing on the back of it. He had to teach his gran how to use the internet better so she didn't always have to go get her pictures developed. Walden was looking around for the letter he was sure they'd sent him along with everything else when he found another, different envelope.
Walden pulled two tickets out of the envelope, hands trembling as he looked down at them. A note fell out from between them, onto the counter, and he picked it up, looking down at his mother's handwriting.
Dear Wallie, A present to let you know your gran and I are proud of you for getting in to school and we didn't listen to a word the Dursleys said about you and Pyxis. Have a lovely time. Love, Mum
Walden looked between the note and the tickets again. Two tickets. To the NoWhere festival in Spain. In a week. His mother was sending him to Spain. To the NoWhere festival. Walden laughed, picking Loras up and giving the offended kitten a big kiss. He heard a sound in the doorway, looking up at Pyxis, sleepy and ruffled in an over-sized t-shirt. She looked so pretty and he was so happy and he just... "Do you want to come to Spain with me?" he asked her, holding the tickets up. "To the NoWhere festival?" He didn't think about it before hand. He just did what felt right. Damn the consequences.

[22 May 2013|05:32pm] |

Draco was supposed to be having lunch with Pansy and listening to her talk about her new boyfriend, but for the most part he was playing with his phone. It had been a week since he'd heard anything from Merlin and, given that the last time they'd seen each other Draco had had to leave for a while to give Merlin a break, he was starting to get worried. Plus, Merlin hadn't been at school and he hadn't answered Draco's texts asking how he was feeling and it just... It was worrying.
He put his phone down because, no, there still weren't any new texts from Merlin, and looked up at Pansy. "I can't believe Father actually approved of a man for you. It's got to be some sort of miracle."

Merlin hated being by himself. Sure, he was annoyed when Draco was constantly hanging on him, but now he kind of missed him. He sighed to himself and tried to read over his homework. It was grindng at him, though. His brain felt like slush. He sighed and put it aside, glancing up as their was a knock at his door and someone walked in.
Lucius. He arched a brow. "Hey." He cleared his throat and stood up. "What are you doing here so late at night?"

Pyxis had never been more terrified in her life. She especially did not understand why she had even agreed to this in the first place. How had Dudley talked her into meeting his parents? They were driving all the way to London to see the flat Dudley was living in and to meet the girlfriend that Dudley had managed to make for himself. And because it was such a big deal, she'd spent her entire Friday night cleaning the flat and making it parent friendly.
She looked at herself in the dress. It wasn't even a typical dress she'd wear. It was a nice dress that Dudley had helped her pick out. She was waiting for them to arrive, brushing and fixing her hair for third time in a mirror in their sitting room, glancing at Walden. Why was he looking at her like that? And why did she have to wear heels? They hurt her feet. "What?" She frowned, then glanced at Dudley. "Why are you two staring at me?"

Draco was kind of disappointed that Merlin's new apartment was ready for him to move in. He liked sharing a room with Merlin. They were going to live together eventually, this was like a dry run. Merlin having his own flat would have been a lot more exciting if Draco's mother hadn't already made it clear that she expected Draco to sleep in his own bed on weeknights once school started. The way she'd said it, Draco didn't doubt she'd actually make a point of checking on him.
"I've never actually seen this flat," he said, as he and Merlin rode the lift up to Merlin's new place. Draco had a box full of clothes and books Christina and Lavinia had brought over in his arms. "Mum says it's nice. It's where Father lived when he first met Evan which I guess is why he never sold it."

Lucius had been very busy recently, making sure Merlin didn't end up homeless, having his old place cleaned out and refurbished so he could move in. At least him helping Merlin put both Narcissa and Evan in a good mood. His life was a lot easier when they were happy with him. A dinner spent terrifying Pansy's new boyfriend was going to be a nice change of pace. Something to relax him. He leaned back in his chair as he waited for Pansy and her boy to show up, taking a sip of scotch.
Theodore had worn purple so he and Pansy would match and picked her up from her flat in his car. "Anything I should know about before we go in?" he asked her, as they pulled up in front of the Malfoy's London house. "Warnings?"

Pyxis didn't like that Walden was in the room across the hall with Romy all curled up with him. She was probably sitting on his face like the little whore she was. But, Pyxis had Dudley. So, she didn't need to think about Walden or how good his tongue felt on her body. And she definitely didn't need to think about the quiet sex they'd had to have when his mother and gran were in the hall.
She focused her attention on Dudley. The boy laying in the bed with her who was so sweet, even if he was listening to rubbish music and looking at a magazine. He was kind of adorable in his own way. The way he gave her awful sexy faces and always looked so smug.
"So.." Pyxis turned her head to look at him. "What do you want to do now?"
