So here's what's happenning.
As of first thing yesterday morning we have selective internet access. We can get to some websites, obviously this one, but annoyingly not Insanejournal, or another forum I’ve been having fun with lately. And I know IJ is working fine because Jack’s been on it and posted on my behalf. Also annoyingly I can get onto Yahoo IM, but not AIM, which is the one I use the most. Warcraft works fine too.
AOL support says its a DNS Pathway issue, which I sort of vaguely understand. I did a tracert and the problems are occurring after the hops leave ISP servers and get onto the big wide web, so there isn’t really anything that the ISP can do about it either. They suggested “wait and see after 72 hours” but neither they nor I have any idea if it will be any better in 72 hours, or if it will be longer, or indefinite, or for ever. So right now we can’t read ANY of our friends blogs on IJ and we're feeling completely out of the loop.. And most of our friends don’t blog anywhere else.

Since we are having problems accessing IJ any more, and we don't want to return to hell-jay, and no-one ever even reads the wordpress blog, we now have this one as a fallback plan.
Should the problem with IJ be long-term, we will be posting here regularly.
