Name: Anselm
Journal: http://www.scribbld.com/users/seenitall/
Codename/Alias: Ansel
Age: stopped keeping track around 200.
Birthday: Unknown. Born in the year 1086.
PB: Clive Standen
Physical description: brown hair, blue eyes, 5'7", a stringy 140 lbs, looks deceptively under-muscled until he's got his shirt off.
Relatives: Siblings scattered. Father deceased. Mother vanquished.
Base of Operations: none at the moment.

Skills: Reads, writes and speaks more than a dozen languages as well as several dead and extinct languages, and is adept in several martial arts learned while living in the Far East. Has extensively studied theology and demonology in the hope of figuring out how and why he exists far beyond his expected lifespan.

Powers: Immortality, though he has no special healing power. His wounds heal at the normal rate. Anselm is touched by the demonic and has a sense of knowing where he is supposed to be. It's rarely where he /wants/ to be.

Weapon: None.

Back History: Inanna, the demon of madness and inspiration, formerly the goddess of love, fertility and war, has the ability to cause intense emotion in others. She was tricked along with others of her pantheon into degenerating into demons in a desperate attempt to maintain their influence on Earth when Christianity began to supplant the worship of Annunaki. She and some of her sister demons took over a nunnery in the late 11th century and began a mission to seduce and madden as many religious men as they could. The demons took on human form for this purpose, complete with all the strengths and weakness of a human female form. As a result, they had children born to them by men in high positions.

Due to the power of her one possession, the Lifestone, Inanna was able to bestow immortality on her bastards and those of her sister demons. They bore a total of thirty children in a period of fifteen years, sons and daughters of important men in the Church as well as highborn men from surrounding countries, the number of children making a mockery of the thirty pieces of silver used to purchase the betrayal of the Son.
Anselm is a descendant of Antipope Clement III and Inanna in her human form. Raised at the nunnery until the age of ten, he was then sent to his father's household. His father acknowledged his natural son but reacted badly to the demon influence he sensed in the boy. Because he didn't care for Anselm, his household felt safe enough in treating the boy badly.

Anselm left his father's house at age fourteen and has not looked back. His mother came to him in a dream and told him of his destiny, to cause terror and strife in the world. He refused, finding no purpose or pleasure in the idea. Inanna continued to appear in her son's dreams over the centuries to chide him, lure and seduce him to serve her and her purpose. Since her apparent banishment by Daimon Hellstrom and Jaine Cutter, she has not been seen nor heard. Anselm doesn't know why he no longer dreams of his mother, he's just grateful that she's leaving him alone.

Anslem tried to live in seclusion in a Tibetan monastery for a century but was unable to deny his ability any longer. He's become a reluctant Good Samaritan, begrudgingly giving help to people on a small scale through his travels and between his studies. He collects no possessions and doesn't question how funds and accommodations seem to fall into his lap when he needs them. He takes only enough to survive, refusing to allow himself to be purchased in whole.

Miscellaneous: His only possessions can fit into a backpack - three changes of clothes, a laptop computer, a few toiletries, notebooks and pens, a few books in their original languages (it really does lose something in the translation). When asked, he tells people he's a student. Students appear to be accepted at face value no matter the century. He's read enough to be knowledgeable about many subjects.

He picks up odd jobs here and there when he feels that he should stay in any one area for a longer length of time and doesn't want to accept help through Inanna's influence. In his lifetime, he's had just about every low paying job ever known to man, and may have invented a few. What meager cash earnings not spent for books or basic living necessities ends up in homeless hands.

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game? Anselm will make contact with the Midnight Sons.

What are you planning to do with the character? Help him over his reluctance to be of the world rather than simply exist in it.

What do you want to see happen with this character? Find his true purpose and embrace it.
