Roaming the land while you sleep
He came into the world with barely any effort and not a lot of pomp and circumstance. Tabitha now had her second son and she couldn’t have been happier. He wasn’t a fussy or needy baby and was content to be held and be close to others.

Cheveyo spent much of his childhood alone with his mother as Dakota and the twins were off to school. He enjoyed the playtime, as he thought of it, with his mom and wanted to hear all the stories she had to tell him. As the youngest he was subject to the teasing and playing around of his older siblings but he loved them and never held a grudge.

Much as he loved his mother and the time with her, Cheveyo eventually went to school. Very quickly he discovered that he liked to learn, and he also liked people. People who weren’t family or part of the pack, but different and fun and friendly. Through the early school years, he evolved into a bright and cheerful boy, one who made quick friends and drew raves from his teachers. He was known as the easy going, laid-back one who always had a good word or humour story to tell. Not many would mess with him, partially because he just didn’t bother and partially because Dakota Avonaco was his older brother. He wanted to be his own person and not someone’s younger brother, but if the reputation worked, he wouldn’t NOT use it either.

Though he was athletic, Cheveyo didn’t seek sports in school though he had friends on the teams and loved watching different events. But he found he liked school. He wanted to learn and direct his energies elsewhere. Music and writing became his passions and separately he loved them, wanting to do as much as he could in each but he also looked for ways to combine them, writing his own music, setting his poems to melodies.

But the idyllic life he thought he had changed just before he was to start his freshman year of high school.

His father decreed that he would go to the supernatural school in Rhode Island, the same school Dakota was already going to as well. But it was mixed feelings he went as Nina and Tika were forced back home for home schooling. Hiamovi was adamant and his word was law in this regard. But beyond all of that Cheveyo was completely excited about going away to school.

It was mind-blowing and the most amazing time of his life. Cheveyo learned so much and it wasn’t just the school part of things but he met new friends, learned about other races and cultures just as cool and long standing as his own. He was learning to be his own man, to come into his own and learn how he fit in the world, not just in the Nakohe. It was an awesome year and before he knew it, it was done and time to go home for the summer. It had only been one year, but it was a year that changed who Cheveyo was as well.

And just as things changed for the good, so did they change for the better. All around and suddenly the world of the Nakohe was coming apart. The government was increasing their pressure. Not just for them but for all supernatural’s. Cheveyo was just 15 now and the only thing keeping him going was the return to Rhode Island. But even that didn’t work out for him. Hiamovi said he couldn’t go back, that he would stay around home. Getting reaclimated to life in Montana was hard, as the government crackdown increased. Some of his friends were no longer his friends, and the tension regarding the Were’s was getting worse and worse as time went by, until finally the two sides could keep the peace no longer.

The government versus the Nakohe and the results were not good. Many male members of the pack were caught up and killed, Hiamovi included. As was his place to do so, Dakota took over as Alpha of the Nakohe and it was his decision to move the family to the Birch Creek reserve in Alaska. Cheveyo was devastated at the loss of his father, but also too of what could have been. He took the loss of his father and the pack mates very hard. He cut his hair, withdrew a bit from the others, and could not be drawn out of his mourning. The young bear is still trying to figure his life out, adjust to the new town he now finds himself, and rediscovering who he is again.

Cheveyo wanted to help out his family in any way he could. He got a job shortly after arriving in Birch Creek and tries to be around for the others. Things get too much for him still and he can often be found in the wilderness, preferring the bearskin to being human. If pushed too hard he would probably be honest about what he as feeling; there are subtle changes about his personality and behavior, but most people close to him tend to leave him on his own.

Cheveyo is now a junior at Birch Creek high school. He’s slowly becoming accustomed to life here and hopes he can make friends and fit in like he did in Montana and in Rhode Island. He is proud and excited to be an uncle now with the birth of Dakota and Tali’s son. It is the start of a new generation along with Nunu. But now the Avonaco children’s uncle Viho has come out of no where to lay claim to all that Hiamovi, and Dakota, had claimed as their own. Only time will tell what will happen now.

Family/Pack & Friends~
You can read a detailed family history here. ( because Katie is awesome for writing that *g* )

TABITHA AVONACO
Cheveyo was the fourth child born to the Avonaco’s and the 2nd son. Tabitha doted on her baby boy maybe more than she should have but Cheveyo and her both wouldn’t have had it any other way. She taught him to be caring and trustworthy to others, to listen to his heart and the spirits around him for guidance and strength. He is a good listener and counselor as Tabitha is and they are both strength to the others. He spent many years in her kitchen while he did school work, listening to the stories of the forefathers; occasionally and when he got older, Cheveyo helped prepare the food as well. Tabitha was a good deal younger than her husband, and knew the life she was entering when she married Hiamovi and wanted to have a family with him. She is a strong proud woman, wife and mother, a pillar to the pack. She remains enriched in the old ways of the pack, speaking her native tongue, and keeping the traditions alive, teaching them to her children and, she hopes, her grandchildren. She is fiercely protective and will fight those who try to hurt her children, or family.

HIAMOVI AVONACO (deceased)
Hiamovi loved his children but he was also the Alpha of the pack and disciplinarian as well. He loved his wife deeply but for others he was distant to remain emotionally removed for situations. Cheveyo looked up to his father and respected him even though there was jealousy for the kind of relationship he had with Dakota. But he knew his place; Cheveyo wasn’t the oldest and wouldn’t assume the pack leadership. But he wanted to get older, so his father could give him more responsibility, so they could spend more time together, and Hiamovi could perhaps see him in the same view as Dakota. His death devastated Cheveyo and even now he hasn’t gotten over it.

DAKOTA AVONACO [info]alphadakota
Dakota is the ultimate older brother. Cheveyo always looked up to him when they were growing up and deep down there was a bit of jealousy for as much time as he got to spend with their father. But that didn’t outweigh how much Cheveyo loved his brother and wanted to be like him. They were different but Chevy saw that as a good thing. He wasn’t as easily excitable as Dakota, or he didn’t have quite the temper either. Dakota is Cheveyo’s hero and he hopes he can be like him when he grows up and honour him as well as earn his respect.

NITIKA "TIKA" AVONACO [info]nitika
NINOVAN "NINA" AVONACO [info]ninaaa
Nina and Tika are his twin older sisters. They are total girls and Chevy saw how strict their father was with them and how much of a disciplinarian as well. Being twins, they have their own little world they live in and are very very close, probably more than any other of the siblings. That being said, Cheveyo is a bit closer to Nina as their temperments are closer and they just get along easily. He can drive her crazy at times, but then again so can Tika. Cheveyo does love his sisters and would do anything for either of them.

LIWANU AVONACO
For the longest time, Cheveyo was the youngest one of the family, but then, much to everyone’s surprise, Liwanu, or Nunu, arrived. At first Chevy didn’t like losing his place as the youngest but that didn’t last very long. He adores his little brother and hopes to be as good an older brother as Dakota was to him. He like spending time with little Nunu and wants to teach him lots of things, telling him stories and keeping their father’s memory alive. It’s heartbreaking to Cheveyo to know that Nunu will never truly know their father, no matter what stories he’s told or what pictures he’s shown.

MEDEA TALIESE CABOTS-AVONACO [info]mtavonaco
Tali has been with Dakota for years. They had been through good and bad times but she’s awesome and Cheveyo thinks she is very good for his brother too. She’s gorgeous yes but is a good person, smart and doesn’t let Dakota get away with things. Well most things. Cheveyo isn’t afraid to admit that when he first met her, yeah he crushed big time on her. But he respect her and what she and Dakota have, and while he doesn’t equate her on the same level as his own sisters, Tali is definitely family. They are allies, the peacekeepers who try and keep things calm in the crazy house of the Nakohe pack, the ones who try and take care of everyone else.
So seek the wolf in thyself
The second son of Tabitha and Hiamovi Avonaco, Cheveyo is 16 years old, very laid back and tries to stay out of the limelight. He has embraced much of the traditional ways of the pack, looking for answers to life in spirituality. He’s the level-headed one most of the time and is usually the quiet one in the corner but won’t back down from a fight if pushed too hard either. Despite some very terrible things that’s happened to him, and his family, Chevy is a happy boy who wants to have fun and enjoy himself.

As everyone who joins a group assumes a role, Cheveyo has as well. He is the calming influence, the wise voice in the times of conflict and trouble. He will put others before himself and won’t complain. He doesn’t want the limelight or attention to fall completely upon him. He is more often than not found to be joyful and in a good mood. The young bear enjoys spending time with his family, even his sisters, as much as he does spending it with his friends and other pack members. Cheveyo respects his elders and it would be rare for him to be the one to start a fight or cause problems. Like his mother he care for others and is always there willing to listen and help out..

But no one is perfect, and no one is completely happy all the time. Cheveyo can also be a very private person and keeps some things close to the vest and inside of him, not willing to let even the closest family or friends see. That being said, it is part of who he is overall. He grew up as Hiamovi’s son, and Dakota’s brother. They were both very strong, definitely Alpha males and as unique and special as Chevy is, he is not an overpowering, explosive personality; he never will be. He doesn’t like to let go of his emotions even though they are raging inside of him. He’s a teenager after all. Sometimes he’ll roam for a few days and has been known to write until his hand cramps up, filling pages with random thoughts, poems, or even full coherent thoughts.

Cheveyo want to write about his pack, about the past and the lives that the members led and how they enhanced the Nahoke as a group. Teachers encouraged him to continue his writing but it wasn’t looked upon as worthwhile and he’s kept it as his own mostly secret thing. He won’t give up on this thing he loves so much. He wants to teach Nunu how to play guitar with him, he likes spending time with Dakota at the shop as well as with his mother like they did when he was little too. Cheveyo is loyal and you won’t find a better, truer friend. He is passionate about the things he loves and wants to take his rightful place within in the pack.
