Seeing that the criminals were taken care of, Iron Girl didn't approach the scene. She did wait until the cops showed up to take the cimrinals into custody. Once the criminals had been stuffed into the back of the police cruisers,Iron Girl took off to the meeting place.
Iron Girl landed at the meeting spot a few minutes late. Of course she was late. She was always late.
"I apologize for my tardiness," Iron Girl's mechanized voice said through the helmet.
Iron Girl will notice that she's looking at the same woman who stopped the robbery. "It's alright, I got held up too." She almost chuckled at the play on words. "I..." She stopped on the words for a minute, trying to think of how to specifically phrase what she wanted to say. She had a feeling this was going to get complicated.
Then she took a deep breath and remembered that this was one of the good guys. "I would like to speak with you about joining the Thunderbolts. I...need help, but I think I would be of use to you in the process."
She made sure they were both secluded, and she removed her mask...assuming Iron Girl had the ability to do retinal analysis. "My name is Clarissa Catherine Gill. Some people call me CC."
Well that was unexpected. Up until this point membership had been by invitation. This girl was the first to request membership.
"The Thunderbolts just don't take anyone trying to be a hero," Iron Girl said carefully. "The team is about second chances or trying to live down a past. What qualifies you for consideration for the team?"
"So you're trying to live down their reputations?" Iron Girl asked. "You mentioned your father, but who was your mother?" Anya asked. Yes, she did do a retinal scan and was running it against databases as well as her face against facial recognition databases.
"I can understand that," she said. Anya knew she shouldn't do this, but at this point honesty was probably the best policy. Her armor face plate slid open.
"Interesting is an understatement," Anya said. She didn't bother to say her name since the girl probably already knew it."Being who I am and who you are."
CC smiled. A very genuine smile. Anyone with any rudimentary sense of reading people could probably tell that subversion and conniving would not come easy to CC Gill. "Even without knowing who you are, I'm well aware of what that armor represents, especially to my family. It's why I came to you. You *know*"
She sigh, runs her hand through her hair. "I was actually conceived as the result of one of Granddad's 'office parties'. Mom got drunk, hit on Dad, he was quite the genetic jackhammer that night, bam." She sighed. "I'm only hear because my mom wouldn't abort me. But she wouldn't have anything to *DO* with me either. So my dad raised me as a single parent. He kept working, but things were strained for awhile. He then hooked up with the original Thunderbolts for a little bit...but then left when I was 12."
"This is where I differ from my dad. He was all tech. I'm all mutant."
Anya nodded as she listened. A small part of her brain was breaking at the thought of a Stark and a Hammer working together. There was some law of the universe being broken somewhere.
They were similar in some aspects and very different in others. They were both results of flings, but unlike Anya, the girl's mother cast her aside. Anya's mother wasn't around much, but Anya never felt unwanted. A part of her felt sorry for the girl.
"Another lucky one with fancy powers," Anya said with a small smile. "I didn't get so lucky."
"There's no sense in standing out here all night." New England autumns were cold, wet and windy and this one was no exception. "Come back to headquarters and you can talk to the team."
CC pulled the hood back over her head. "Sweet." she said simply. "You can also run your DNA tests, lie detection, whatever you need. I figure that's coming."
"Long as you don't try to break the sound barrier." CC replied, icing up the beginnings of a slide underneath her. "I should be able to keep up somewhat."
"No need for breaking the sound barrier for a few blocks," Anya said. The faceplate lowered and she lifted a few feet off of the ground. She flew slow enough for CC to keep up to her.
