Name: Rupert James Aveline

Name: Rupert James Aveline
Your photo-credit/PB: Harry Lloyd
Age: 20
Nationality: British

Allegiance and why: to his family and friends, to England, to the EIC

Social Status and/or Occupation: 2nd son to a well to do merchant of the East India Company; Assistant Private Secretary to a Fleet Commander in charge of 6 ships on the trade routes in and around India

Brief physical description of your character: Tall and skinny, dark brown hair and deep blue eyes, he's strong and athletic; tan from the time in India and tends to vary between clean shaven and short but well trimmed facial hair; does not forget where he came from though his station in life grants him the ability to enjoy himself and provide to his family's trading company

Brief description of your characters history, including family: the Avelines were a merchant family, making money from the East India Company. They were on the lower end of their class, but they had made enough to afford a nice house in a fashionable area and show off a bit. His father Bartholemew was a merchant with the EIC and did very well for himself, a smaller merchant but popular and well liked. He is married to Cordelia, formerly Caldwell, daughter of the British Foreign Secretary to Spain, and they have three children: Randolf (25) is the oldest and looks to inherit the merchant business from his father, Rupert (20), very smart but fun-loving and makes a name for himself within the EIC; and Rosaline (17) the youngest and only daughter, popular in society

They were fortunate enough to be able to hire the Hoges's as servants and treat them well. Arthur and Mary plus their children William, Thomas, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Charlotte and Jane. The children were closer even though theHoges ' children were their maids and valets. There were lines that couldn't be crossed but in the small household, it was a little more blurred than bigger houses and those more upper class.

For as long as he could remember, Rupert had enjoyed having the company of Nicholas Hoge. They were very much alike and much to their parents chagrin, and could find themselves getting into mischief. Nicholas didn't seem to tire of following him around and Rupert rather liked the attention. It wasn't anything planned but he started giving him favouritism rather than to Thomas who was officially Rupert's personal assistant. They just got to spend more time together and Rupert found himself growing very much attached to Nicholas. And things changed for the better or worse, it was hard to say, but it was quick for them both. Rupert didn't hold back and finally propositioned Nicholas, and then he kissed him. Happily, he was kissed back. And then things continue on and on and they were happy.

Sadly that happiness didn't last for too long. Arthur discovered them and it was a time of panic and disarray. Before he knew what was happening, Nicholas had come to him to say good-bye and then he was gone. His family said he'd run away but he knew the truth and Rupert was sick to death for what had happened. He should have looked out for the younger boy and spent time he wasn't finishing school to go out and look for Nicholas. Rupert had to make it right with Nicholas, to bring him home.

His health was ailing and his father couldn't stand to see Rupert so upset. He had enough connections in his own business as well as his in-laws to get Rupert a job in the East India Company first as a clerk but he moves up quickly and into the job of Assistant Private Secretary, a job that also meant leaving London and going to Fort William in Calcutta. For just over 18 months he worked and learned and succeeded, gaining a fair amount of wealth on his own. But circumstances brought him out of India and to London. He has only been back a little bit and is working in the East India House on Leadenhall Street. Other members of the EIC have taken notice of him and he is doing quite well. He has taken on a more laid-back demeanor and relaxed ideals from his two years abroad. The Commander has offered his London townhouse to Rupert as he will be on far too much travel, but wants Rupert to stay in London, work as the contact there and take care of business between the EIC and the Crown.

He is happy to be home. He's missed his family and still does miss Nicholas but he's resigned himself to the fact that he's gone. He still does have the occasional nightmare about what could have happened to him but they aren't as frequent. Rupert is glad he's been successful and that his parents faith in them has panned out. He can help take care of the whole family as he wants to now.

One or two plots which you would like to play out in the community: rekindling with friends and family, finding Nicholas as rediscovering each other, making it work between Charles, Piper and himself, getting embroiled in politics

Are there any other characters you would like to see in the game? For instance, family, friends of your character?: any of his family, the Commander he works for, friends from India
