Finished Another Note (not so strange, it's only like 175 pages).

Saying "Rue Ryuzaki" is "LL"? DOES NOT WORK IN ENGLISH. It just doesn't. Honestly, it reads like intruiging fanfic... and in a way it is, since it has a different author. So by my standards it's as canonical to DN as the Star Trek novels are to Star Trek. Honestly, I wonder how closely Nisioinsin followed Death Note; it strongly implies that Mello survived. Still, I'm glad to have read it. It made me laugh a lot and Beyond Birthday is an intruiging if WTFy character.

And it makes L introducing himself as Ryuzaki really creepy.</lj-icut>

I can't freely recommend this fic to everyone, because it's really dark and warped. It touched a chord in my guro-loving soul (which some would argue means no soul at all). It's here on [info]dn_yaoi, written by [info]shinigami_ebola, and if there was a rating beyond NC-17 I'd give it one.Death Note fic, spoilery. Light/Mikami and, uh... there's necrophilia.

So don't read it if that squicks you, seriously. But otherwise... there's not enough Light/Mikami and this one is so twisted and I love Mikami in it.

Whispers of my pagan-ness have gotten out to the neighbor kids. Sometimes they ask me to do spells... sometimes I'll make them good-luck charms, charms to help them study, little and benign stuff.

It's a really, really weird feeling, telling a kid who asks for a good luck/help finding a job charm to find a white stone. I feel like Granny Weatherwax. (Note: I put a drop of BPAL Horn of Plenty on it.)
