I have achieved erranding!

music: *** 15. George Carlin - Lost & Found
Pulled an all-nighter so I could run my errands early. Loaded up my mp3 player with some vintage George Carlin (I like his earlier stuff better), left at 4-something in the calm, calm dark and caught the first bus downtown. Ahhhh, so peacefully quiet! Hit the automated kiosk at the post office; [info]glamourcorpse, your ring is on the way, and I also sent out a BookMooch book and a couple of letters.

Then I treated myself to breakfast at Magnolia. A breakfast taco (one of the loaded kind... egg, cheese, bacon, and avocado) and home fries. Delicious, very filling, and the service was friendly and efficient. I really do love the Magnolia Cafe.

On the bus run up to Walgreens, I saw a guy in a linen suit and a pith helmet, with a Flogging Molly patch on his bag. Gotta approve of a guy with spiffy fashion sense and good taste in music. And I really should get a pith helmet. I had one when I was a teenager and I wore it all the damn time.

So then while I was at Walgreens picking up my meds, I found the Sally Hansen Color Quick Nail Pen. Quick-dry nail polish! In black! It comes in blue, too, and several more mundane shades. I snagged the black and tried it out. It's a little hard to control the flow of polish but I think I could get the hang of it.

Went to Fiesta after that. Butter, cream cheese, cottage cheese, bread, some drink mixes, a few import goodies. They started carrying those potato chips I like again! Well, crisps, really. I think they're from Ireland. Why the US doesn't have flavors like Worchestershire sauce or smoky bacon, I'll never know. I mean, bacon! Americans love bacon!

The awesome black caftan I ordered is on backorder, though. It'll be, like, a month before they send it. I am bummed about that. I need to drink more tea.

Lasting good and (hopefully) short-lived annoyance

So, the neighborhood brats were being exceptionally bratty, and I had to fill out some frustrating Official Paperwork (recertification for some medical benefits). That send my mood nosediving, so I went ahead and got the extra LJ userpics and brewed myself some nice strong Earl Grey Lavender.

But there is good! My mother is buying me an air conditioner! An inexpensive window unit, shipped to my door from Amazon. This is exceptionally cool, pun not intended. It's the sort that will just cool a small room, so I will be able to keep the bedroom cool to retreat to and nap it when the crossbreeze in the main room isn't enough.

However, I've never installed an air conditioner and I'm not sure if I can do it myself. Could I maybe ask one of you Austin peeps to help me when it gets here? I can spring for pizza in an air-conditioned room in thanks when it's done!

It's almost 10 and there are little kids running around screaming outside. Pisses me off. When I was a kid I had a bedtime. I even remember being put to bed before dark when I was very young. But not these little shits, nooooooooooooooooooooooo.
