music: Voltaire - The Beast of Pirate's Bay
Today went well. Despite the rain, it was clear when I had to be out in it. The mail brought good stuff: the Brita water pitcher, a BPAL imp I'd swapped for, the new Voltaire CD, and a surprise bottle of BPTP Gula bath oil!!!!. That last was a birthday present. My friends are awesome, yo.

As for tonight's main event...

I wore my purple Keely dress from HolyClothing with black leggings (which turned out to be a very good thing, as I discovered that it is more tunic-length on me) and Snow, Glass, Apples.

The Magnetic Fields concert was great. As instructed in Neil Gaiman's blog, I told the woman running the concession stand that Neil sent me, and I got two buttons and she took my picture!

Michael Hearst was the opening act, and I really enjoyed his set. He was doing snippet-length-songs based on current events, accompanied by slides. When a slide of Sarah Palin came up, everyone started hissing. I love Austin.

And of course then they came on and were awesome. The banter was a hoot. And they played a lot of songs I like; "Dreams Anymore", "The Nun's Litany", "Too Drunk to Dream", "What a Fucking Lovely Day", "Yeah! Oh Yeah!"... a real delight.

The crowd was obnoxious as hell, though. It was really crowded (maybe even sold out?) and everyone was so loud! I really didn't appreciate the woman who high-fived her friend in front of me, and then was texting during the show. Getting out was kind of dicey, the crowding almost flipped me out but once I got loose I was ok. As I'd promised myself, I cut my nails as soon as the concert was over. I have my left hand back! And I only had to wait about five minutes for the bus.

So it was a good day! And tomorrow my Monin syrups are supposed to come.
