Weaknesses and flaws: Utterly mortal otherwise.  Helena also pretty much lacks the standard bat “edge,” hardness, and suspicion that characterizes most wearers of the cowl.

Backstory:  On an alternate world, Batman started his career in much the same way as on countless other Earths.  Early in his career, however, two things made rather important changes. The first of which was that he caught his parents killer, the man called Joe Chill.  The second was the adoptions of young Dick Grayson as his partner.  Both of these aspects slowly started transforming a grim avenger of the night into a figure who operated on the basis of providing a symbol of hope and safety instead of fear.

By the time he had been operating for about ten years, the urban legend rumors of the past were completely disregarded.  Batman and Robin made frequent public appearances, operating in broad daylight just as often as night.  People actually moved to Gotham because it was such a safe place to live.

During this time, Batman convinced Catwoman to turn herself in for her crimes, just after having revealed his identity to her.  She turned herself in, plea bargained, and earned an early parole for good behavior.  When she got out, he was waiting for her.  They got married that very day.  Not long after, they were blessed with a baby girl named Helena.

B y this point, Batman had, by and large, retired, going out only on special cases, and otherwise left the guardianship of Gotham to the now adult Robin.  Helena herself excelled in school (as well as training from her parents), graduating early, and going on to college and law school.  After finishing school, she joined the law firm of Cranston and Grayson, one of whose partners was Dick Grayson.

Approximately two years ago, criminal Silky Cernak blackmailed his old boss Selina Kyle into resuming action once again as Catwoman, an act which eventually led to her death. Helena, deciding to bring Cernak to justice, created a costume for herself, fashioned some weapons from her parents' equipment and set out to bring him in. After accomplishing this, Helena decided to continue to fight crime, under the code name Batgirl.

Helena’s heroic actions earned her both her father and Dick’s blessing and when Dick himself decided to begin retirement to devote his time to his own family, Helena was the natural choice to take his place in the Justice League.
