Flashback: Age 9 [11 Feb 2012|04:22pm]
William Finger had been teaching fourth grade for nearly ten years now, but he had never had a student quite like the cause for the parent-teacher conference he was hosting tonight.  That one little nine year old girl in pigtails and ping dresses could be the cause of so-much stress...

He closed his eyes briefly and there was a knock on the door.  He got up and opened it, welcoming the two people outside in.  He was careful to hide the surprise he felt.  One of the two, who he assumed was Catherine's mother, wearing a sweater that was probably a little too tight and a skirt that was definitely too short, showing off a pair of very shapely legs.  Behind her was an older man--Catherine's grandfather, perhaps?  He looked old enough to be the woman's father and he recalled reading in Catherine's file that her parents were not married--who looked like at least forty miles of bad road.

"Ms..."  He quickly remembered the name from the file, "Blake?  Please, come in."  He turned his attention to the man.  "Mr...?" he began, offering his hand.

The man took his hand and shook it, with a grip that left his hand throbbing after he let go. "Grant."

Grant?  As in Catherine's last name...  "And you must be Catherine's..."

"I'm her father," he said, with the weary air of someone used to explaining this often.

Mr. Finger somehow managed to accept this in stride, and wondered what exactly Mr. Grant's secret was and where he could learn or obtain it..  "Please, have a seat."

They did, and Ms. Blake--stop staring at her legs William-- fixed her attention on him.  "So, what's up teach?"

"Well, Mr. Grant, Ms. Blake, I'm afraid Catherine has been fighting..."

He didn't get to finish his sentence.  As one, Mr. Grant and Ms. Blake both asked, "Did she win?"

The conference went downhill from there.

Well, this sucks. (Crack, 10) [24 Jan 2012|10:29pm]
Cat was unhappy right now.  She was also about six years old.  Physically, at least.  Caught some kind of stray chrono-particle when they'd been fighting Degaton.  It was supposed to wear off fairly soon.  But in the meantime...   Not so much fun.

She had a business to run, projects to finish up, drinking to do, bad guys to punch.

Right now?  Cereal.

"This sucks."

Name: Catherine "Cat" Grant
Codename: Wildcat (IV)
Group Membership: Justice Society of America
Birthday: November 17, 1986
Eyes: Green
Hair: Blonde
Height: 5 ft 9 in.
Weight: 130 lbs
Relatives: Ted Grant/Wildcat (father, living), Zinda Blake (Lady Blackhawk, living), Tommy Bronson/Wildcat III (brother, living)

History: Well, a little more than twenty-three years ago, the JSA threw a major shindig.  Big party for all the super-folk.  And, well, Zinda Blake had a little too much to drink, and Ted Grant had a little too much to drink, and yadda yadda yadda, nine months later, there came a bouncing baby girl. (Blake’s then boss, Barbara Gordon, reportedly originally pitched a fit when she first found out about the pregnancy and father, and delegated the yelling and sanity questioning portions of the conversation to Black Canary and Huntress).  Ted himself received quite the earful, first from Dinah, and then from Alan, Ma,  and Carter.  Jay wasn't angry though, just very, very disappointed.

There was, to put it simply, no chance of any kind of long term relationship between Ted and Zinda, but both put in the time to raise Catherine (Ted was reportedly a little bit drunk on the day of her birth and Zinda was on pain medications, neither realized until it was too late they’d named the girl “Cat”), who spent roughly equal amounts of time with both of them.  They more than made sure she knew how to take care of herself.  She reportedly made her older brother Tommy’s life a living hell.  What surprised everyone, however, were that many of her interests were far more girly than any of the others would have expected.  Cat grew up with a love of gardening, tea parties, and all things pink, while at the same time being able to pretty much able to hold her own in the ring or anywhere else,

Cat, of course, grew up around the other JSA brats, and as one of the oldest, has taken on a role of big sister/den mother to most of them, whether they like it or not.  When not saving the world as a member of the JSA or cleaning up the streets as Wildcat, she splits her time between running a franchise of Dinah Lance's Sherwood Florist and teaching women's self-defense courses at the NYC branch of Grant's Gym.

Powers: Cat possesses no super-human powers, but has received extensive training in various forms of combat from her father and mother, as well as from Dinah Lance and Helena Bertinelli.  Her overall emphasis is in boxing, but she's picked up moves from a great number of styles.  She's an overall gifted athlete, and in a pinch, can be called upon to pilot any of the JSA's aircraft.

Cat is a qualified florist, seamstress, and baker.  Her tolerance for alcohol is almost super-human.

"Injustice Times Two"

1) Independently of each other, Damien Luthor and the Wizard discover the location of the Devastator, a powerful magical android left buried on Earth by some long forgotten race (or possibly ancient Atlanteans.  It's all good).  They also discover that, in order to wake it up and control it, four special crystals are needed.

2) The first one of these is found in the NY Museum of Natural History.  2 Members each of the Injustice Society and Injustice Unlimited are dispatched to steal it.  There, they run afoul first of each other and then members of both the YJLA (I'm thinking Petra and Traya, possibly, since they're native New Yorkers) and the JSA.  The teams battle, but one of the Injustice Unlimited members escapes with the crystal.

3) Under interrogation, the remaining villains give up the plan and reveal the locations of the other three crystals.  The YJLA and the JSA decide to team up to stop them.

4) The other locations:
a) A Paris museum (A member of the Injustice Society escapes with the crystal)
b) A Mayan temple (a member of Injustice Unlimited escapes with the crystal)
c) Buried under the Great Wall of China (a member of the Injustice Society escapes with the crystal)

5) Luthor and the two escaped Society members and the Wizard and his two escaped team members, both travel to Antarctica to try and find the Devastator.  After a brief scuffle, they agree to join forces.

6) Once the Devastator is awakened, Luthor betrays the Wizard.  In retaliation, the Wizard uses his magic to summon the YJLA and the JSA to their location, before making his escape.

7) The teams battle the Devastator and any of the remaining villains, barely holding their own, until one of the heroes is able to confront Luthor and smash the crystals, ending the Devastator's threat.

8) The Devastator is reburied, and I'll leave Luthor's exact actions/fate here up to hands with a more vested interest in them.

Honey, I'm home! (test scene) [20 Sep 2010|09:43pm]
Heels clicking and skirt rustling slightly in the breeze, Catherine "Cat" Grant approached the JSA Brownstone.  She'd practically grown up in that building, with the best family a girl could ask for, when she wasn't growing up with another best family of the most kick ass women known to man.  She'd been away for a while now, with finishing up some education, and the new job and all...

But it was time to come home.  The JSA probably just wasn't the same without her particular influences.

...They better not have been havin' any fun without her.

She walked up the steps and knocked on the door.

Backstory: Well, a little more than twenty-three years ago, the JSA threw a major shindig.

Cat grew up with a love of gardening, tea parties, and all things pink, while at the same time being able to pretty much able to hold her own in the ring or anywhere else, even more so when she discovered, like her brother, she was also a werecat.

Working as a florist in New York City, Cat is about to hook back up with the Justice Society.

Other skills: Cat is talented at knitting, flower arrangement, and gardening.

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: dropping by the Brownstone/moving in to the Brownstone
What are you planning to do with this character?: No specific character plans, with the possible exception of an eventual “goes feral” kind of thing.
What do you want to see happen with this character?: JSA stuff, pretty much; alternating plots with Wendi as necessary, since I think we’re big enough to start allowing some doubling up.  If this doesn’t work out, she could be an independent, though I prefer the team environment.

Please include a sample post/scene
