Character Name: Adrian Tudor Varias - though to anyone whom he doesn't expressly know, he introduces himself as Sin
Character LJ (if applicable): [info]deadliestsin
Physical description (face, build, weight): When in his human guise, Sin is about 5'-7" tall and around 185 lbs. He's short (compared to a lot of men), but has broad shoulders and a strong build. When in his natural form, Sin is about 6'-0" tall and weighs closer to 225lbs. He stands tall on cloven goat-like hooves and has curled spiraling horns that grow out of his hair to match them. Unlike most demons though, he has black shimmery feathered bird of prey wings with a green sheen to the feathers. His eyes in all forms are bright green.
Age: Somewhere around 300 Earth years - not too sure
Birthday: March 17
PB: Trent Reznor
Abilities: Sin's major powers come in his ability to hide himself and what he is. He is extremely effective in hand to hand combat, with either his own claws or a sword, but he would rather avoid conflict if at all possible. While he does have resistance to magic, he does not know a whole lot himself - most of his magical ability is tied up in his masking and trasmutation powers that allow him to appear as and pass among the humans with little detection. With enough preparation and time spent casting, he can appear as anyone or anything, but to be honest he's usually too lazy. Sin also is rather partial to his own face. His most significant power though is that he's nigh impossible to kill. The angelic contribution to his genetics allows him to regenerate at an alarming rate - things that would kill a normal demon simply knock him out of commission for a while. He may even appear to be dead, but will within a short time revive on his own. Sin is also able to heal others, though it is at the cost of his of flesh. When healing someone else, he takes on their wounds and pain. A life threatening wound that he heals from someone else certainly won't kill him, but it will heal considerably slower that wounds that he sustained on his own. These "healing" wounds will regenerate at the speed that a "normal" wound on someone else would. Other than that, he is simply as fast and strong and agile as any demon who spent upwards of 250 years in Hell leading armies would be. Adrian is also capable of flight upon his own power, if in his natural form due to his wings.
Weaknesses and flaws: While not a normal sort of weakness, music is certainly a weakness to Sin and his emotional spectrum. Without a regular outlet to create music such as an instrument or even paper to write, Sin will be driven mad by the music in his head. He hears it constantly, and is driven to write and create for days on end sometimes. When in a binge like this, he will not eat, he will not sleep, he will only obsessively work until whatever feels complete.

It might be noted that Sin is not repelled by symbols of faith, as he is half angel. Sin/Adrian also is able to be summoned by someone speaking his full name and then a command. This is why he usually doesn't give his real name to people he doesn't trust.
Character location/Home: New Orleans
Alignment: Reluctant hero
Relatives: Father: Murmur, other Father/Mother: Raphael (Okay, I know this is weird, but Raphael is the only angel that is considered to be "female" depending on what resource you use. The actual mechanics of how Sin was born are something that I tend to gloss over, since it becomes impossibly complicated if Raphael is considered male.); Countless lesser demon siblings from Murmur's many encounters with imps and succubus etc.
Backstory:
Once, long ago, Raphael found herself captured by the armies of Hell and was drug down through the depths to a dark and dank prison cell. The commander who had captured her was not even Lucifer! To her horror she had been taken by some Duke by the name of Murmur, and he seemed drawn to her like a moth to a flame.

Murmur was beautiful, though so different from her with his wide strong hooves and whip-like tail. Though he bore horns and bat's wings, Rafael could not help but find herself drawn to the charismatic and surprisingly intelligent demon. Without even meaning to, they began a rather odd but wonderful dance around one another that happened at the latest of hours in the dead of night. None but the demon and angel knew of what started as a friendship, and in time became something much more personal and deep.

For a long time, Raphael denied the demon, choosing her innocence over defilement and what she saw as disfigurement. Murmur, on the other hand, would not be denied. In time he wore her down, drugged her with her own senses, and cajoled her to give into the urges that she no doubt felt as much as he. She continued to elude him until one night, one faithful night, he mesmerized her with a song. In the end, that song was her loop hole for when Murmur left her side that night he had left more than simply a shattered angel. It was not long afterward that Raphael was able to make her escape and despite her soiled condition, she was allowed to return back to the Heavenly Host. A while later, she bore a son with black hair and hazel eyes and feathers in his hair... and black goat's hooves and a devil tail and sharp, deadly teeth.

Unable to bear looking at the baby she had created, for he was nothing but a living reminder of the lover she had abandoned and then spoke falsely against, Raphael was allowed to send her son back to whence he came, and Murmur was more than surprised to find the child on his doorstep, mewling forlornly for a mother he barely had been able to know. In many ways, Murmur took the child as an insult - as if he and his obviously first born Greater son were not good enough. Being a Duke and Earl of Hell and in charge of more lives than most national armies, Murmur did not have time to raise a babe himself. The slow growing demon-kit that was bestowed the name Adrian was thrust upon nursemaids and his older siblings. If he survived to adulthood, Murmur had many hopes for his son. If not, he would not mourn him.

Growing up within Hell was not an easy thing. Demons were wont to have many children, for few survived past their 100th birthday - let alone survive long enough to actually summon the power it required to leave hell. For Adrian, Hell was truly a terrible place, though without any reference, all he knew was that he was different and that he felt most of what went on there was wrong. Of course as a small kit, he could not say much, and suffered the abuse his siblings rained down upon him for daring to be the first pure-blooded Greater Demon born to their father. The child hid his tears and hugged his scaled stuffed dragon to his chest and in time started to fight back. Despite being an absent father, Murmur was pleased. Even at a young age, Adrian demanded respect among his siblings.

The years though wore on him, and when young it was easier to handle the tribulations of Hell for you do not understand. As Adrian grew, as did his heart and his consciousness. He saw the suffering of innocent people around him - not the ones who were sent to hell as soul-slaves, but the living slaves who were bred for nothing more than labor and meat. The first time he had tasted human, it was delicious - until they told him what it was. Adrian had never enjoyed eating something that could hold an intelligent conversation and would rather go hungry than be the reason for another death.

As Adrian grew and learned all that there was to learn in Hell, he began to experiment with magic. For one reason or another, he had been gifted in the ways of sorcery, and was adept at the powers of Transmutation. Able to become anyone or anything gave you a lot of perspective, and Adrian was unable to deny the truth that he really was different from most everyone else in Hell. That became even all the more apparent when he started going through puberty and started growing feathers in all of the most odd places.

Puberty was not a happy time for Sin. Not only did his anxiety about being different come to a head, but his body started to change in drastic ways. Feathers started to grow, and what had once been smooth soft skin became fletched with pin feathers and all sorts of things. His head itched from the feathers growing into his scalp, and his skin crawled whenever he looked at himself. Adrian was not the most handsome teen; between the feathers sprouting and his increasingly sour disposition he was not met with much fanfair. Puberty was also vicious for Adrian, for as his sexuality matured and came into the light, he found himself struggling against what he found pleasurable and what he felt was right.

Given the less than loving way he was raised, Adrian soon found that he found pleasure in pain. Whenever his siblings beat him, he would simply fall into a trace; eventually that trance would turn into waves of pleasure. Needless to say, his siblings stopped beating him as soon as they realized that he liked it. As he grew in age, Adrian also became more savage; despite his unwillingness to do things like kill other and eat humans, he became a proficient warrior with not only his claws, but with sword and spear. As he grew into the demon equivalent of his teens, Adrian began to run alongside his father's chariot in battle, clearing the way for the wheels and finishing off any that dared even look at his father wrong. While Murmur never spoke of it, he was imensely proud of his son. Among all of his children, Adrian was shaping up to be a proper heir to his throne. Of course he never spoke personally to Adrian, never told him this. Adrian lived in the belief that he was nothing more than a lowly carriage-boy.

As Adrian started to reach maturity, he found himself quite saught after in Hell; though by none that he desired. Having grown from kithood to youth in a span of almost 200 years, he was strong and fast and sleek. Many of the demons of his caste would seek out his company simply because of his rare feathers. Not many in Hell had feathers - and feathers of the hair and pointed ears quickly pointed towards Adrian's lineage. A half angel would make a fine prize for anyone in Hell, and Adrian's royal blood simply sweetened the pot. Once he realized his company was wanted for that and not because he himself was desired, Adrian quickly put a stop to most of his demonic suitors.

The last fifty or so years in Hell really scarred and abused Adrian. The older he got, the more his angelic side started to bring him trouble. It became increasingly clear to Adrian that Hell simply wasn't the place for him. He took to hiding, keeping to himself and avoiding all of his siblings and his father as much as possible. Of course if he shared his fears with anyone, he would have been punished, and so once Adrian was able to summon the strength, he left Hell for what he had hoped was forever.

Coming to Earth for the first time is never easy for a young demon, and for Adrian it was no exception. He was catapulted, screaming and on fire, into the side of a building and then was left to try and acclimate, all on his own. Contrary to popular belief, he was not taught any English while in Hell, and so was thrust into a modern world from a medieval one; and had no idea the language in this new place because all he spoke up until that point was Latin. Luckily he remembered his Transmutation and was able to change himself into the form of a human to keep from being outright hunted; but he still wasn't in the best of shape.

Fifty more years in New Orleans, and Adrian had made a home for himself and had a job and friends. Adrian enjoys New Orleans, and has managed to live this long without detection. Mainly because he lives his life as a mortal might, going to work and then home, and doesn't flaunt his powers. Often he does not take his true form unless sleeping.
How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: Sin works in a house band at one of the many local Jazz clubs in New Orleans. I suspect that some trouble will come knocking on his door, causing him to become involved.
What are you planning to do with this character?: Adrian is a heavy hitter when driven to be, but he would honestly try to talk his way out of conflict. He's seen a life-time worth of death and destruction and has no stomach for it anymore. I see him forging strong social bonds, and finding a group of people to protect as his own.
What do you want to see happen with this character?: I'm open to anything really. :)

Sample post:

The sound of the air over the water of the Gulf of Mexico was exhillerating, and Adrian forced his tired muscles harder, faster. He hadn't flown in a very long time, and in some ways he thought he was crazy for having not. Then again, he didn't get many chances anymore. The moon was bright over the water, and Adrian marveled at it's beauty. There was nothing in Hell like the moon, and all oceans were of fire; the view that he had, of silver light dancing over calm waters was a distinctly Earth thing.

Landing was always the hard part - the part that was the most risky and problematic. If someone saw him, then he would have to deal with demon hunters for sure. Luckily, the city seemed quiet and still, and he had little trouble landing atop a roof near the water line. A little bit of magic, and he was back to "normal".

Soon enough, booted feet were hitting the pavement below the building, and Adrian paused to let his body regenerate any damage that he might have caused by jumping from that high. Within a few bare seconds, he shoved his hands into his pockets and started to meander his way home, feeling exhilarated. The feeling of the wind through his feathers always helped his mood.

Maybe he would write a new song when he got home...
