08:36 pm - Checking In

Got to 3LF last night, but got there late. And tired. And while I would've felt bad about not going, since I've missed so often, it may not have been the wisest choice. Had to rest up a bit afterward before I felt able to drive home safely, and today has been a pretty sucky, headachy, low-energy day. Did resist the urge to go try to Do Things today, 'cause I need to recover some spoons before I spend more.

Storm moving in, tornado-watch weather-bug in the corner of the telly screen (I turned on NCIS to see whether it was an episode I'd already watched -- it is), wind coming from a different direction than usuall, and I'm hearing the heavier bits of ballast tumbling across the roof. Eep! Still haven't gotten the blue tarp tied in place through the windows yet; goodness knows what'll be left of the flimsy clear plastic the next time my arms & shoulders feel up to climbing the ladder again to look. (I've collected more quart and half-gallon containers to use to weigh down the edges of the plastic, but haven't been well enough to get up there to place them.)

Wheee. I'm already a day behind on my plan for the week.

Last night when I came upstairs, Perrine gave her desperate-sounding squeak followed by the short form of her hungry meow. But instead of trying to lead me to her food dish, she jumped on the bed to be petted and scritched. Desperate for scritchies, a need more important than food ... She was very enthusiastic when I pulled out the slicker-brush.

(When she did decide she wanted food, she copped the not-uncommon feline attitude of demanding freshly-served food -- having perfectly good food in her dish wasn't enough; she needed the Ritual Of Being Fed to go along with it. Eating the food that's left over from her previous feeding is fine if she's sure I'm asleep or unable to get up, but if I can stand, she wants it done right.)
