"The moral distinction between the bully and the victim IS important. Those who support same-sex marriage are not advocating taking anyone else's rights away. They aren't advocating barring marriage for straight people, denying them access to their spouses' hospital beds, denying them inheritance rights and health insurance and custody rights, making their kids' lives and their own less secure. I've never heard a gay minister argue that straight people, just for being straight and seeking love and marriage in a heterosexual context, deserve to burn, forever and ever and ever, without rest or respite. I've never known a straight kid to commit suicide because he was ashamed to admit he was attracted to women - I've never heard any gay minister or gay-positive church create a climate that left straight kids simmering in shame and pain like that." -- katrinb, 2008-12-18
