[On this day I am contemplating the anniversary of the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach a few hundred years ago, the annual religious observation of the crucifiction of Jesus the Christ nearly two thousand years ago, and the recent death of Arthur C. Clarke a couple days ago. All three have affected my life and how I perceive the world.]

"One of the biggest roles of science fiction is to prepare people to accept the future without pain and to encourage a flexibility of mind. Politicians should read science fiction, not westerns and detective stories." -- Arthur C. Clarke (b. 1917-12-16, d. 2008-03-19)
