( People come and people go, you're scarring everybody's face with some small flicker of the truth of what it is you're going through. )
The Character:
Name: Malcolm Angus Baddock; his 'stage' name is 'The Bad Doc' on the occasions he spins or, Lord help him, performs. He's often called 'Doc' by his customers. Birthday: May 21, 1983 Blood: Halfblood Former house: Slytherin, 1994-2001
Sexual orientation: Heterosexual Marital Status: Single as they come!
Nationality: Scottish Hometown: Glasgow, Scotland Residence: 220 Euphoria Lane, Flat 1C
Occupation: Having grown up well provided for, Malcolm's never really seen the need or had the drive to keep a solid, 9-5 job. Most of his money comes from selling 'special potions', and it remains his only substantial source of income. He's currently employed as a bartender at Financial Status: It depends entirely on the day of the week. Somedays he's vergin on complete and utter ruin, others he's miraculously got enough money to drink his weight in expensive liquor. Political Affiliation: Malcolm is what you'd call "politically maleable". His affiliations vary faster than the colours of a mood ring on Pansy Parkinson and are usually dependant on what he needs at the time and who he's speaking with. If ever there were the antithesis of the Loyal Hufflepuff, Malcolm is it.
Social stereotype: The Shady
Personality: There are a lot of bad things one might say about Malcolm Baddock, but it's his personal creed to always look on the brightside of things, if only outwardly. To appear cheerful and chipper completely negates the whole swindler schtick, and an optimistic outlook paired with, let's face it, a rather adorable smile, goes far in winning someone's trust. The fact of the matter is, Malcolm is a slimey creep. Of this he is sure. It doesn't take very long to figure it out, but he likes to prolong the realization. In fact, as far as Slytherins go, Malcolm's a sun-filled day on the beach, complete with unicorns, rainbows and lolipops! He doesn't go out of his way to insult people, enjoys chatting up strangers, and generally charming the pants of women if he can manage. As far as he's concerned, there's not much anyone can do about bad luck, so why waste the energy worrying about it? Some would say lazy, Malcolm would say 'easy-going'. It's all a matter of the spin you put on it.
For all his audacity, Malcolm could've been put in Gryffindor. He's not afraid of very much, except losing his own skin, and is more than willing to take a couple of risks. But when Malcolm rolls the dice, he rolls them big time. He gambles large and can be a bit reckless with money, but as the old adage goes, you can't win unless you're willing to risk it all. Still, self-preservation trumps all, and Malcolm's main lot in life is screwing as many people over as he can without them being any the wiser. He's slippery, and is constantly just missing out on some serious trouble. Were it not for a certain way-with-words, chances are he'd have been dead years ago.
But that's Malcolm's true gift: a silver tongue. He can talk out of both sides of his face at once, and pulls it all of with an air of complete sincerity. A gifted salesman, Malcolm has an innate ability to deduce what people need -- sometimes before they need it. Unfortunately, he's never thought to use his power for good. Instead, he preys on people's weaknesses and helps satiate emotional voids the best he can, always ensuring to deal out just enough "help" to have his client's coming back for more of whatever it is. When selling, he has no scruples: he finds an achilles heal and feeds on it. That's not to say he's strictly in the business of selling drugs and illegal potions; such scope is far too narrow for Malcolm. People need a lot more than a quick fix, and he's always willing to find alternate routes and methods in providing for them. With a head for business, he's too sharp to limit himself to one thing alone.
Childhood: Deviating from the trajectory of most Slytherin childhoods, Malcolm Baddock did not come out of the womb swimming in gold galleons.
War involvements:
Height: 6'2 Distinguishing marks/features? None to speak of, save a curious flair for fashion; Malcolm prefers tweed suits, fedoras, and skinny, 1960s ties. He's got a retro vibe to him which goes a little beyond his attire, as if he's stepped out of some old spy film -- one of the baddies, naturally. He's also got brilliant hair that just sort of flips and curls in this real laissez-faire sort of way. Malcolm is exceedingly proud of his hair.

The Writing
Third Person Example: "Right, lads! Cheers, then! I'm knackerd, early start and all that. Enjoy your -- well." Malcolm stood with a cheerful grin and a nod, his fedora-clad head bouncing lightly to the soft music in the background as the four 'lads' examined the product he'd just delivered. You'd not know how tense the situation had become from the easy gait and carefree mannerisms of the tall, thin Slytherin in question. Not a bead of sweat fell from his brow, and he appeared to be genuinely enjoying himself. The lads in question hadn't been 'lads' for at least twenty years, and had the muscles, scars and tattoos to prove it. One looked up and gave Malcolm a toothless scowl, at which he couldn't help but recoil just slightly.
"You know, mate, I've got a brilliant seller of fake Persian teeth. Bloody fantastic market, that is -- no?" The man had let out a low, fearsome growl, to which Malcolm only laughed lightly. "Right. Well then! Enjoy, boys! Adieu!" With a loud crack, Malcolm disappeared from the spot just as the toothless man lunged at him. Appearing again in the midst of Euphoria Lane, he took a deep breath of fresh, spring air and grinned to himself. "Lovely fellows! Might wait a bit before going back, though," and with that, continued jauntily down the road.
Additional info: Malcolm owns a pet toad of the Bufo Alvarius variety. It's become famed for it's ability to get anyone brave enough to lick it high out of their minds. Aptly named Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, or LSD for short, Malcolm sells licks -- 2 galleons a pop -- to unsuspecting Hogwarts students and anyone else willing to give it a go.
