Character Name: Emily Elizabeth Banner

Character LJ:
  [info]emmysmash

Physical Description:
Emily is a scrawny little thing, about five and a half feet tall, with long slightly unkempt wavy brown hair (often in braids or a ponytail). She has hazel eyes and glasses for nearsightedness. She dresses sort of hippie - often in long skirts and peasant tops - and she prefers to be barefoot whenever possible. At least in human form...

In her Hulk form Emily is eighteen feet tall, weighs about an even ton and is a verdant green all over, with hair a chunk darker than her main shade and bright eyes with a particular fire in them that has led people to describe them as 'acid' green. In this form Emily is densely muscled and moves more like an animal than a human being.

Age: 17

PB:
Jena Malone

Abilities:
Emily turns into an 18 foot tall, 800 lb, green monster capable of lifting upwards of 90 tons at rest (forget the damage she could do when juiced up and angry). In Hulk form she shrugs off bullets and shrapnel with ease, heals fast and does incredible damage to anything she sets her mind to destroying. Tranquilizers that aren't given in doseages that could probably kill a whale don't even touch her.

She retains control and intelligence in her Hulk form however, able to converse with almost the same vocabulary as normal. Which is alot because she speaks 21 languages (17 living and 4 dead).

As a human beng Emily is certifiably a genius. Though she can understand maths and sciences without much problem they don't interest her and she is instead an incredibly gifted literary and language scholar. She reads very fast, is a vertiable force of nature about order and filing, and has a near to photographic memory with a special talent for schedules and dates.

Weaknesses and Flaws: For all her intelligence, Emily is a little bit socially stupid. She is painfully shy around new people, often goes over others' heads when she does talk (using too much of her extended vocabulary or sort of flaunting her smarts without meaning to or realizing that she's doing so). She can come off as snobbish due to her difficulty in engaging other people in conversation on a casual level.
She also gets very frustrated with people who assume too much of her intelligence, largely in regards to science and those people who have expected her to be a female carbon copy of her genius father, Bruce Banner.

As her Hulk self she has few physical weaknesses, but she genuinely dislikes hurting people which can hinder her willingness to participate in a fight. And although she is very integrated with her 'Hulk self' and therefore usually has a great deal of emotional control in both forms, Emily's other half does have a rarely reached breaking point. Once she is OUT of control... well let's just say that it's an utter ordeal to bring her back to calm from being so angry that she is rampaging outright.

Character Location/Home: Grew up in New York, New York, USA but was transported from France where she was living and working for a museum doing translations.

Alignment: Hero - Part of the Avengers in her home universe

Relatives: Bruce and Betty Banner, parents, Thaddeus and Karen Ross, maternal grandparents, Brian Banner, paternal grandfather.

Backstory: The only child of Bruce and Betty Banner - Hulk and She-Hulk respectively in her home universe (Marvel Earth 3490) - Emily has grown up always being a part of the 'cape' community in some way. She was raised by two parents who were part of the Avengers and was a friend to all of the Avenger's children, particularly close to James Stark-Rogers (her childhood crush) and Mayday Watson-Parker (a beloved older-sister figure of the highest order).  She was part of the young Avengers durring a year when the team consisted entirely of original Avengers' legacies, and she continuted on to become part of the core Avengers team. Since she was twelve Emily has been a full scale first-class hero.

When Emily was 16 however, after having been home-schooled by her father for  years due to being teased about her Hulk mutation and not being challenged enough in regular schools, she took the opportunity to travel out of the States for the first time in her life and go to France to work for a museum specializing in ancient artifacts, doing translations and catalouging their existing archives.

Having been in Europe for a year Emily is beginning to grow less withdrawn, more comfortable and confident.
Her life is ripe for going terribly wrong.

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?:  I was intending on Emily having found an artifact that bridges the gap between universes. It was given to her by the museum that she was working at for her to try to translate the markings on the cylinder, which they believed to be some form of Chinese. Emily figured it out in part, rolling the moving pieces together to form a row of characters and sounding them out... and the artifact worked it's special type of magic, tossing her into a parallel world.

Upon arriving she was frightened out of her skin at having been so suddenly transported and she dropped the cylinder, shattering the ancient metal puzzle into dozens of pieces, it's fine clockwork insides ruined and the outside casing of slender moving rings pulled apart. It would all need to be reassembled in a delicate and specific order before she could even TRY to remember what combination of characters on the winding dial would get her back to her home world.

Stuck? You betcha!

What are you planning to do with this character?: Emily came from another world so honestly, at long eventuality, I'd like for her to find a way to go home and to have seeking that road home be a big part of the over-arching goal of her character. While she's stuck though she'll take it on herself to learn everything she can because curiosity and bookwormy knowledge thirst are two of her most defining traits. She'll take notes on everything and make friends and be happy to throw herself into some hero-ing for the time being.

What do you want to see happen with this character?: Emily is at a point in her life where she's just beginning to be a little less shy and withdrawn and a little more open and confident. She moved away from home for the first time a year ago and although she enjoyed her trip she really desperately misses her family and will be very upset by the idea of being seperated from them permanently by being stuck in another dimension (not to mention that core marvel canon is very different in many fundamental ways from her home universe so she'll be pretty wierded out by some things). I want for her to form some family-like ties, for her to learn to have more backbone, to trust her inner hulk a bit, to be drawn out of her shell and find more confidence in interacting with people. She's used to always being shunned out side of her tight knit little circle of legacy kids that she grew up with and I'd like that to change.

Sample post: This is an example from a personal RP where Emily was meeting her father at the airport in Tibet while she was living there and he came to visit her. If this isn't suitable as an example of her just let me know and I'll write something new.

Emily wasn't THAT nervous, really.

Only four hits off the inhaler all morning which was better than when she was the one getting ON the plane. Still, meeting someone getting OFF should have been a slice of cake, and here she was edging toward dose number fi - okay no, just breathe... just... - edging toward dose number six, scanning the crowd through slightly fogging glasses.

It was utterly freezing outside - February in Tibet was just LIKE that - but the air inside Gonggar Airport was honestly a bit warm, so she'd left her coat unbuttoned and was now trying to rationalize that no that did not mean that her father would fail to recognize her (but-but she said 'I'll wear the blue coat you sent me' and augh!) Sniffling into another of the endless run of kleenexes in her pockets (a runny nose was a constant trouble in this climate) Emily tucked her inhaler away again and resumed scanning the arrivals gate with serious trepidation.

She shouldn't have been bothered. This was her DAD coming to visit for Pete's sakes.

But two years was such a long time....

All said and done, when she spotted him towing his luggage along through the turnstile he looked exactly the same. An extra slash of grey to his hair, new glasses, but the same scruffy face and look of perpetual nervousness. Worry left her, her nerves stopped jangling, and she was running toward him before she could think of doing anything else. Seeing him felt like it should, like coming home.

All I Want...
Dear Santa,

I'm pretty sure I haven't written a letter to you since I was about five.

I figured out the myth pretty fast you see, because I was too smart for my own good. Daddy tried, and mama let him, but she knew I was too smart for all that stuff.

I miss them.

And I know you're not real, but I'll ask anyway.

I want to see my family for Christmas please.

Either send me home or bring them here, just let me hug my daddy, and tell my mama I love her, and pet my Archie again. If there's a map for reconstructing the cylinder that would be nice too.

Any of the above failing to be within the scope of your great magical powers Santa, please send me a new book and some socks.

Thank you,

Emily Elizabeth Banner

PS: Please don't count any bad guys I have beaten up against me on the naughtiness scale. I try very hard not to be too smashy.
