she's the understanding type

I am in a remarkably good mood seeing as Swan Upping will take place a week from today. As a conscientious young woman, I feel the need to address certain swan enthusiasts' concerns: remember that clipping the swans' wings stopped by 1980. Furthermore, I personally enjoy the upping part far more than watching people hold out knives to mark them, but marking is akin to fox hunting: they are tradition. If one does not like it one should move to Belgium.
