Good Causes (Test) [04 Jun 2011|09:44am]
Getting up at the ass-crack of dawn wasn't something Nell was down with.  Her mother had often commented that she had to have gotten that particular feature from her father's DNA because sailors could be up all night and still greet the day with a song.  Nell wasn't certain if that was true or not, but she was certain that the only reason to get out of bed before ten willingly was for a good cause.  This morning she had a very good cause.

Working on her fourth giant mug of coffee Nell showed up at the Habitat work site in Mutant Town, hammer hanging from her pocket, bright red t-shirt with "MUTIE POWER" printed in huge white letters on the front.

"Sweet Lord Magneto that house needs work."

Player (nickname, handle)/ LJ: Nix

AIM (if you have one): BlackPennedWords
Character Name: Petronella "Nell" St. Croix
Character LJ (if applicable): [info]i_got_nothin [info]i_got_nothin
Physical description (face, build, weight): Nell is approximately 5'7" and 120 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.  Her hair is long and naturally wavy.  She has an anchor tattoo on her left outer thigh approximately 5 inches below her hip.
Age: 22
Birthday: August 5th
PB: (If using one.) Emmy Rossum
Abilities: None.  Nell is an ordinary human, aka flatscan.  She is, however, in possession of a very old-looking bracelet that grants her limited phasing (to a depth of no more than six feet in/through any object) and superhuman agility.  The bracelet was a gift from a friend of her mother's who "found" it when searching for treasure in old shipwrecks.  She is also a skilled boxer, having engaged in the sport informally since she was five and more formally since she was thirteen.  Sailing is second nature to her.
Weaknesses and flaws: Basic human frailties apply.  In regards to her artifact-powered abilities, they work for her only if she's wearing the bracelet.  The second the bracelet is removed from her, she is reduced to baseline human.
Character location/Home: New York
Alignment (villain, hero etc): Hero
Relatives (living/dead?): Lee Forrester (mother), David St. Croix (father), Louis St. Croix (grand uncle.)
Backstory: Don't get Nell wrong; she loves her father, but she's still really disappointed that Magneto didn't knock her mom up back in the day.  Hell, she'd even accept Cyclops as a parent because it would have at least given her better odds at inheriting the X-gene.  Alas, despite her mother having had flings with both men the man she ended up having a child with was David St. Croix, nephew of mutant rights supporter Louis St. Croix.  Nell grew up equally dividing her time between her parents with spring and summers spent with Lee and her sailor-folk and fall and winter spent with her father in the city.  From both sides of her family she learned to not only appreciate, but outright love mutants, believing not only in the cause of mutant rights but that they needed to be acquired by any means necessary.  The fact that she's as flat as a flatscan gets complicates the matter, but once people get past the semi-ironic "MUTIE POWER" t-shirt she likes to wear, it's clear to see that she's genuine and a worthy heir of the St. Croix family's legacy of supporting mutant causes.  She's also the heiress of her mother's more...romantic interest in hot mutant men.  A trip to Genosha as a teen instilled an almost religious devotion to Magneto (she figures it'd be creepy to crush on her mom's ex) and gave her her first kiss from a telekinetic boy who could also control fire.  Nell is determined that the next generation of St. Croixs will be mutants...and that they will live in a world that accepts them as equals, as superiors, as worthy.
How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: Nell will hook up with the Genoshans and confuse them with her pro-mutant fervor.
What are you planning to do with this character?  Nell will work with the Genoshans existing in game on various plots and be part of a Genoshan Consulate team if formed.
What do you want to see happen with this character?: I would like to see Nell grow in her belief in mutant rights and, eventually, settle into a strong human voice for equality, one with balance and understanding (as right now she's a bit of a wild child.)  It would also be nice to see her find love with someone irregardless of their genetic status.
