LEWIS: The haven had started to feel like home. That perplexed Lewis, because he didn't think anyplace but Bernadette's would ever feel safe, or right. Oddly enough, the fact that Wolf Haven was so nice—and he really liked it there—was disturbing. Could he make anyplace home? Did he have to stay at the vampire estate? The way Emmett had treated him had planted a tiny seed of shame in him. Lewis didn't ever think he'd feel shame about the life he lived, but there was something about it that made him feel a little mistreated now. It wasn't a life changing feeling yet, but maybe something would come of it later if it festered. At the moment, though, he was reading at the kitchen table. Jack had loaned him a stack of comicbooks and he ate up the stories in them. Someone would probably start dinner soon. He'd probably move when they did. ELGYN: It was a little before dinner when Elgyn arrived on the doorstep of Wolfhaven so that he could fetch Lewis. He had a sealed note from Bernadette, cshowing her permission for Elgyn to be there to get him. Hunter refused to invite the vampire inside but he did go into the kitchen and he found Lewis sitting at the table. "Lewis, ELgyn is here to take you home." Hunter toldh im, though he wasn't sure that he would want the vampire to take the human home. "If you would like to stay here I can write Bernadette a letter and perhaps we can arrange for you to stay longer." Because he couldn't imagine going back to that house. LEWIS: Lewis perked up. "You'd let me stay here longer?" The name Elgyn both thrilled and frightened Lewis at this point. He missed him desperately, but he didn't know if he was ready to face any wrath the man might have. It didn't have to be logical anger; it could be anger at Bernie for sending him. This had, afterall, been a punishment for the vampire. Shifting around in his seat, he looked surprised by the offer and almost considering it. ELGYN: "Yes." Because the idea of the boy going back to the hosue to be cattle to those vampires made him uncomfortable. And though he knew that Austin was taking advantage of Lewis' presence, he was still fairly certain that he was better off at wolf home than at Bernadette's. "I will send a letter back with Elgyn if you'd like, Lewis. I know that it's your home but..." He shook his head. LEWIS: The shake of Hunter's head was familiar and it made Lewis's pride droop a little. It was probably better to be devoured whole by the vampires than be pitied by even some of the wolves. He was just a human, afterall, and the fact that he knew this whole other world existed put him in a strange position as an outsider on his own planet. "No, he'll be furious if you do that." Lewis stood up and stacked the comics nicely for Jack to pick up later. ELGYN: "Then let him be furious, Lewis. There is more to life than being cattle to a bunch of vampires." Hunter really didn't think very much of them, though he did like Bernadette. The woman was nice, but he knew that there was a predator beneath that, they were all predators. "You would be safe here, well taken care of. You could go to school if you wanted to. Either in Seattle where Cole teachers or there is a community college here." LEWIS: Lewis frowned. "And never go back?" He looked out the window, wondering if he could catch a glimpse of the vampire, but he couldn't in the low light of the tail end of twilight. "If I went to school, people would find me." Though he figured none were looking by now. Still, he'd been a high profile runaway. He'd miss Bernadette, and it upset him that he was even thinking about not going back. Elgyn would know; it would be in his mind and Elgyn would smell the betrayal on him. ELGYN: "Then you can stay here and get your degree through the mail. You can live here, we can offer just as much protection and anonymity as the vampires can, Lewis. And we wont feed off of you and beat you." he would have said fuck him too but he knew Austin was doing that so obviously that wasn't something he could offer him. LEWIS: Laughing a little, Lewis noticed the omission of fucking. That was fine by him, but he'd miss the other things too. Shaking his head, he offered a shrug. "I wouldn't mind maybe visiting sometime, or--" He made a face that was kind of shy. "--I don't know, seeing Austin again." But he wasn't going to say goodbye, that would be awkward, and Austin probably didn't care one way or the other. "I'd better go meet him outside. Thank you though." ELGYN: "You're welcome." Hunter said, still not sure he was willing to just let Lewis go but he couldn't keep him. "If you want to see my brother you are more than welcome to come isee him again if you want." Until then he was going to just back off and let the kid go. "It's been nice having you here, Lewis." LEWIS: At the prospect of being reunited with Elgyn, Lewis let himself get excited, finally. Turning, he bounded towards the front door, meeting Elgyn on the porch and beaming at him. "Is Bernadette busy? I'm glad she sent you." There was probably more to it than her just being busy, but not that much more to it than simple amusement factor. ELGYN: Once Lewis was out the door, Elgyn wrapped his arm around the boy's waist and he started down the steps of the porch and towards the limo that was waiting for the two of them. He was trying not to rush but he wanted to feed off of the boy, hadn't fed often enough since he left. "How was your time here?" he asked, trying to sound interested. LEWIS: The moment their bodies connected, Lewis couldn't remember why he'd been a little afraid and ashamed to go back. He wanted to crawl all over Elgyn. "It was nice. The wolves are--different than what I'm used to." And while different didn't mean bad, Lewis was beginning to remember that he preferred the vampires. ELGYN: Once they were in the back of the limo, Elgyn was all over Lewis. He pushed the boy onto his back and mvoed to slide between his thighs so that he could lean down to feed off of him. One hand came up to his jaw and he turned Lewis' head to the side so that he could lick up the line of his neck. LEWIS: This was so easy. He shut his eyes, tumbling with satisfaction backwards onto the seat of the limo, letting Elgyn take over. A quick pulse of fear was all he felt before his arms reached up and around to accept what he knew was coming. He loved this; he remembered now. ELGYN: Without even giving him a moment to treally prepare for it, Elgyn opened his mouth and sank his fangs into Lewis' throat. It was sort of like coming home for him. Lewis had always been his favorite of all the humans the skulked around the house and he was the one healways wanted. There was something possesive about his relationship with the boy and now that he had him back he wasn't going to let him go. LEWIS: The pain was brief and crumbled away quickly to be replaced by the joy in it. This was an important job, some tiny logical part of himself reasoned from off in the recesses of his preoccupied mind. Without him, Elgyn would die--or rather, he'd wither--or more to the point, he'd find someone elge. But he wasn't cattle. His next thought was the one that stung he was a pet.
