I won't presume to speak for the others who voted as I did, but as for myself, it's not a resistance to Any Difference -- I just didn't like the proposed one as much as the original. Adding that right-hand column makes it feel cluttered to me.

More important to me than appearance is that things work similarly across related sites that I use at the same time (the most offputting aspect of Blurty to me is how many actions have a different flow -- order of steps). So the proposed layout change isn't a huge deal to me as long as I can still find the information I'm looking for there. But hey, when I'm asked to say which I prefer, I'm going to vote for the cleaner-looking style (and in general the one that is least messed up by unusual browser-environment details such as a window much smaller than the whole screen, or a small-screen device like a cell phone, or a text-only browser). And we were asked.

I like the fact that we were polled, instead of just being presented with a fait accompli. If the voting were tilted the opposite direction from my opinion, I wouldn't be here mocking the majority for their choice (though I'd raise technical issues if I had serious concerns there).

Again, I make no claim to represent everyone else ... but I'd be surprised if I were alone.
