History: Bella is the eldest daughter of Cygnus Black and Druella Rosier and the eldest of the third-generation Blacks. She's Druella's precious treasure and her parents see her as prime marriage material; she'll breed perfect children because she is, in her parents' eyes, the most perfect daughter one could ask for. She grew up as the bully on the playground (or in this case, drawing room), kicking and pinching and biting to get what she wanted, but always managing to put on the most adorable - if slightly sadistic - smile when she needed to behave like a proper little lady.
When she entered Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat barely got into her hands before it shrieked "SLYTHERIN!" She was House Prefect for her last three years of school, often using the position to her advantage - sneaking around after hours, taunting the ickle Gryffindor Firsties, and being a generally corrupt individual. Of course, Professor Dippet never suspected a thing, and after all, why should he? Bellatrix Black was of the highest and most noble Wizarding house in Britain, if not the world - certainly she could never be capable of anything unbefitting a young lady.
Bella scored outstanding marks on all her exams, and yet never pursued a career in anything other than securing herself a decent marriage proposal. Her darling mother would be so displeased if she wasn't married before she passed twenty. Of course, Druella doesn't know that Bella has no plans for starting a family and raising children. She's hardly the mothering type - that's Narcissa's domain - and her propagation of the Black line lies primarily in her efforts to weed out those she deems unfit or traitorous to the Black name.
Personality: Bella is a box of tricks. You never really know what you're going to get out of her. She's almost disgustingly respectful to her parents' faces, but constantly undermines their authority when they're not looking. She's the image of sisterly love and adoration around family, but she's nosy, bossy, and cruel when it's just the three of them. She acts the adoring fiancée to Rodolphus Lestrange, but she constantly talks about him behind his back. She's charming, cunning, and charismatic, and makes a damn fine first impression on family friends. She's a Black, the best witch of her year at Hogwarts, and she knows she's better than you. Unlike her pet cousin Regulus, however, she's just a little more subtle about it.
Despite Bella's apparent well-mannered behavior and unfailingly polite demeanor, she is a lit fuse ready to blow. It's impossible to know when she'll quite explode, so it's important to tread carefully around her. Her full-blown hysterical episodes are few and far between, but as Regulus will tell you, unless you want your innards replaced with tapeworms, you'd best shut up if she hexes your ears off. She has sadistic tendencies as well and has been known to practice curses (and subsequently, memory charms) on house elves to blow off steam. She's particularly adept at the Cruciatus and oh, if she could have gotten her hands on Sirius before he ran off. He'd rue the day he ever besmirched the Black family name with his Muggle-loving and his blood-traitor friends. Which leads to another point..
Say what you will about Bella, but there's no denying she's dedicated to her philosophy. Muggles, mudbloods, blood-traitors - call them what you will, but they're all traitors to the Wizarding world and ought to be got rid of. Bella was raised to believe that, and by Merlin, she damn well does. She listens to every muted whisper she can catch from her parents, from the rest of the family, from visitors and acquaintances, wanting to know everything she can about the underground movement to do just that - to exterminate non-magical peoples and their traitorous friends from the Wizarding world.
Reputation: As the eldest Black sister, Bella is bossy, manipulative, and cruel. She's known for her fondness for being in control of pretty much everyone, including her parents. She knows everyone's secrets, and if she doesn't, Narcissa gives her the scoop. Her role is to uphold the glory of the Black family, and she's not above using violence and manipulation to do so. Sirius' disgrace of the family has made her more zealous than ever about protecting it.
Details:

- Is just as vain as her mother and prides herself on her slim figure, her thick, dark, shiny hair, and her delicate hands.
- Wears a very delicate silver chain on which hangs a diamond pendant filled with a small amount of Rod's blood - an engagement present. She adores it.
- Is incredibly proud of the fact that she is the most fearless of the Black family cousins and managed to stay the whole night in the woods behind the house without crying for her mother. The rest of you lot are a bunch of pantywaists.
