Strengths: Snape's wit and ingenuity are his greatest strengths, they have served him well many times when potion making. Nothing makes him happier than mastering a new spell or finding a way to improve the process of making a certain potion. He is well read and well versed in all of his courses as well as a little side work that he does to keep busy. He has a passion for learning, and soaks up new knowledge like a sponge. He can also be very cleaver when he puts his mind to it, spending hours deep in thought before acting on most things. Snape could be described as brave as well, as he always stands up for Lilly Evans when his fellow Slytherin's rag on mudbloods.

Weaknesses:In Snape's opinion, he has a lot more weaknesses than strengths. He is not particularly good at sports, his muscle mass close to zero. He doesn't do a very good job of standing up for himself either. He has a nasty habit of letting everyone walk all over him, including Bellatrix and Lily, who are some of his closest friends. Because of his constant harassment from his parents in the past and students at school, Snape doesn't think very highly of himself. He usually feels like a waste of space, and lets this hold him back from doing anything out of his comfort zone. Even though he is willing to stand up for Lily, he just can't find a reason to do it for himself.

Darkest Fear: Loosing Lily Evans to James Potter.
Boggart: Lily being killed by dark wizards.

Appearance
Snape is what you would refer to as a string bean, really nothing more than skin and bone. He stands a little bit taller than most, and is usually described as gangly and awkward. His hair is kept at a variety of lengths, his philosophy being that he cuts it all off before he comes back to school and then lets it grow out over the year. It is usually seen hanging in his face however, slightly grungy more often than not. In fact, Snape is usually in a constant state of grunge. He feels like there are much better uses of his time than showering all the time. He makes an effort to keep his face clean however, along with wearing deodorant, especially when he hangs around Lily.

He has very long limbs and isn't sure what to do with them sometimes. Physical strength is not his forte, nor is any kind of physical sport or talent. His sallow skin and dark eyes only add to his frail appearance, making him look a little sickly sometimes.

As far as his fashion sense is concerned, Snape doesn't have much of a wardrobe. Always wearing old patched up hand-me-down's and bargain bin clothing, he much prefers his school uniform to anything he owns. If he dons regular clothes he usually tries to stick to t-shirts and jeans, hoping that no one will notice that some of his pants aren't quite long enough. He can always be seen wearing a beat up old pair of trainers as well, the right one having several small holes in the toe.

Personality
Quiet and observant, Severus isn't the type to socialize with most people. It is unclear whether he feels the way he does because he thinks himself above most of the student body, or if it simply because of his lack of social skills. Either way, Snape has a few close friends that he interacts with and can usually be seen avoiding the rest of the student body at all costs. He can usually be seen sitting off in a quite corner buried in a book or scribbling down notes. To those he is close with however, he can be quite chatty and bright. He might be socially inept but he tries his best to keep his few friendships afloat, especially the one with Lily. He can be quite loyal to those he cares about.

Because of his loyalty to those he has allowed to be friends, he is often torn between the differing opinions and view points. His interest in the dark arts and the Death Eaters is feed by his friendships inside Slytherin house, to which he feels like he belongs. Lily's friendship however challenges these interests, and he often feels guilty because of this. Lily is his best friend, but he can't deny that he doesn't enjoy the kinds of things he gets into with Bellatrix and the rest of his Slytherin friends. While he secretly loves Lily and would die for her, he doesn't know how to balance his time between the two groups.

History
Born on the 9th of January 1960, Severus Snape grew up in a slightly broken household. His father Tobias Snape, a muggle, didn't much care for Snape as a son and Severus favored his mother Eileen Prince from a young age. As a child and well into his school years, he refereed to himself as the "Half-blood Prince". Usually neglected at home, the title made him feel special in a way that his parents never did. They were usually too busy fighting to pay much attention to the boy, and he got used to being on his own early on in his life.

Things started to change slightly for Severus when he met Lily Evans, or rather, when he noticed that there was something different about the red haired girl from her sister. Once he finally worked up the courage to talk to her, they became fast friends. Severus enjoyed telling Lily everything he knew about the wizarding world, it made him feel important and he liked that the girl would hang on his every word. He couldn't wait to leave for Hogwarts with her and get away from his parents and Spinners End.

It was a dream come true the day he finally boarded the train for Hogwarts, he felt like there wasn't anything he couldn't do with Lily by his side. His high hopes were dashed slightly when he met James Potter and his friends on the train, their jeering making him feel less confident and self conscious. Things only continued to go down hill when Lily was sorted into Gryffindor and not Slytherin. He felt slightly better when he was accepted into Slytherin house with smiles and pats on the back.

Belonging was always something that Severus craved, and even if he doesn't interact much with people, he feels like he belongs in Slytherin. To his chagrin however, him and Lily have been able to keep their friendship throughout the years. His increasing interest in the Dark Arts is starting to put that friendship under strain though, and increasing pressure from his pure blood friends has been putting Snape in a tight spot recently.
