Using the LiveJournal System

I. Introduction

So, you have just joined our alliance and received the link to our forum to register. You go to the link, thinking it's just like any forum, but it's completely different! Where are the Sections? How can I post? Why is everything so confused?

Ralph has decided to build this forum here for a reason: ease of using. How?, you may ask, It's much harder! Actually, it's not. It seems though because you have never used this system, but once you feel more comfortable in this enviroment, you will realise the greater points of this forum:

1 - All important posts on a place you can reach at once;
2 - You can easily find previous not-so-important threads if you need them;
3 - No need to waste time clicking on a lot of links to read the essential stuff - more time to spent dedicating to other things;
4 - You exchange private messages with other members and keep those messages neatly organized on a thread of their own;
5 - Each of you will have your own places to rant or ask for help;
6 - All replies to a thread will be on the same page, unless it's a really huge thread.

So, basically, it's faster, and easier to organize.

The cons, I'm sure you can realise yourselves, on the basis you have with other kind of forums.

II. How to use

Since using this system is, at first, an issue, this FAQ is here to help you.

Essential Links on the first page

a. Registering your account

To register your account, from the first page click on "create journal".

c. Setting up the Watch page.

To set up your watch page (or friends list), go to the tab "Manage".

Scroll down and you will find "Manage friends".

As a first step (already taken by me), uncheck all the boxes in this page and hit "save changes". Once this page is all clear, write the names of our communities and our members on the boxes in the middle of the page and click "save changes" to add them.

f. Writing to the main forum

To write a New Post on the main forum, you will first need to be accepted by a moderator. Once you are, click on "My Scribbld" and follow the link to "Write a journal entry".

Writing options

Choose from the dropdown menu if you want to write to your personal Travian page or to the Alliance forums. Write a good subject summarizing what your post is about. If your post has no subject, you will be warned to change it.

After writing your message, click "Post to <forum>" and wait for the "success!" page.

If you aren't sure if your post should stay on the main forum, or on your own page, ask one of the moderators. They are listed on the Forum's profile.

You can also write a comment to my journal's first post asking for help. My journal is [info]ralph_ecthelion .
