Superchicken is Legend [Apr. 6th, 2009|04:02 am]
[A Bit of the Old Ludwig Van |The Lonely Island - Like a Boss]

So... finally, here's day two of my trip.

Tuesday, St. Patty's Day, was an adventure. We woke up around 9 AM. Sadly, I woke up with a RAGING hangover from all the drinking the night before. I wound up throwing up twice, which was painful. We wound up catching the bus into the city fairly early, and walked for about 15 minutes before finding the beginning of the parade. It seemed like all of Dublin was out in full force. It was seriously an incredible sight. We moved down to one of the main crossing areas, right off of O'Connell Street, the main street in downtown Dublin. Once the parade ended, and they opened the gates, it was seriously a fucking FLOOD of people. It took us like, 20 minutes to cross the street. Yeah. Seriously. We wound up walking all the way back to the city, since all the buses were out of service for the afternoon because of the ridiculous amount of people in the streets. We headed to the Goose, and actually managed to get seats at the bar almost instantly. We were there for a good hour and a half, watching the Gaelic Football game, and drinking a bit. I was still feeling the effects of the hangover, so I took it easy. We left the Goose at around 4, and decided to go back and get some rest for the night ahead of us. I lay down for a bit, listening to some music and reading American Psycho. Andrew came and got me at around... I believe 8, and we caught the bus into the city. We went immediately to a pub that was recommended by a few kids in their school group, Mssr. Maguire's. We headed into the basement and ordered our drinks. There was a room off to the side that was packed, so we waited around for it to open up. Once it did, we got a table right near the door, and hung out for another couple of hours. Some guy and his friends came in, and one had a guitar, so they started playing Irish folk songs, and once the room filled up, which is did quickly, there was a huge singalong going, which was absolutely incredible. There was also some reaaaaally drunk girl there with her boyfriend, and they were either fighting or damn close to having sex on their table the entire time. It was odd. Also, coincidentally, a bunch of kids from Andrew and Conor's school group were on the second level of the pub, out of three, and got in a fight. We were informed of it when we got back, and the kid who got his ass kicked was passed out on a bed. He was in really bad shape. His nose was almost broken, and his lip was busted open, and he had a cut over his eye. Irish people are rough when they drink. We passed out relatively early, since Andrew and Conor had class the next day, so Matt and i decided we would go out and sightsee. .
