appearance.
Shane has hair that is a shade somewhere between a darker blonde and a light brown. He is tall, standing at just over six feet tall. He is in pretty good shape for the lack of exercise and the amount of junk food and alcohol he consumes. He does try to jog as much as possible. It is good exercise and helps him clear his head. He is very rarely without a hat and it is always worn backwards and dresses in slacks, jeans, t-shirts, button downs - whatever is most comfortable.

personality.
Self-important, arrogant and hot headed. Three of the best character traits to describe Shane Stephens.

The world does not revolve around the sun, but around Shane Stephens. He is the man, the myth and the legend - and he will let you know it. Charm comes naturally to Shane and he uses it to his advantage. He'll use it to get himself a date, get out of trouble (if the situation allows it) or any number of other things. Shane is a smooth talker and always seems to know just what to say.

Arrogance or confidence? Shane will gladly claim that he possesses a great deal of confidence. He knows he's good looking; he knows he's talented; he knows he can get a girl when he wants one; he knows that he is popular. Because he knows all of these details, he walks around the halls of the school with his head held high and a smirk on his face. Others would contradict him and call him arrogant based on his attitude.

Shane has a wicked temper, at least when he’s drunk. He would never channel it through violence towards a girl but he'll go looking for a fight with one of the guys. Girls may be there for his personal pleasure and amusement but he would never harm a hair on a girl's head. If a girl was out with him, she was quite safe. His temper gets him into trouble with other guys because he is very quick to react without thinking.

Slacker would be an amazing term for him. He does the minimum he needs to do to get by. After all, life came easy to him since he belonged to a rich, powerful, well connected family. He'd much rather put his effort into parties and getting girls. His interests include: Drinking, partying, girls. Not necessarily in that order, but usually they all go together. After all life isn't a guarantee and he's determined to enjoy it.

Since his freshman year, he developed the persona of the bad boy. Breaking rules, skipping classes, drinking, driving before he was legally allowed to. He's done a lot. Quite frankly, he believes the rules apply to everyone but him. A lot of that was done to get one or both of his parents attention. Sarah had a way of getting it a lot of the time, you know when his parents weren't too busy arguing with each other to notice either one of their kids. When Shane's not TRYING to get caught, he's pretty good at being stealthy.

He’s a rich kid. One of those kids who have always gotten everything they’ve wanted, when they’ve wanted it. Shane is not used to opposition, to people rejecting him, or being told no. He is very much used to getting his way and getting what he wants, when he wants it. Anytime someone tells him no or anything other than what he wanted to hear, that is merely a challenge for him. Make no mistake about it, Shane will do everything in his power to make sure he gets his way.

history.
The Stephens family was one that was born to wealth and privilege for many generations. Shane Michael Stephens was the second child Leah gave birth to. Two years before him, she gave birth to a baby girl names Sarah. Sarah didn't want another brother or sister. She hated the attention being shifted off of her. Babies require an enormous amount of attention though. Any time Leah had to feed him or give him a bath, Sarah needed to show her something or have mom watch something new that she did. If it didn't happen in that moment? She sulked and pouted and stomped away.

She was home with her mom and baby brother almost a year before she started preschool. The fact that Sarah had to go to school was not fair. Not at all. Shane got to stay home with mom! That wasn't fair. She was not a fan of sharing mom, let alone Shane being able to stay home with JUST her while she was at school. Morning were always a fight with her.

They have a lot of luxuries that most families might not. Top of the line cell phones, laptops, computers, televisions, gaming systems. Shane and Sarah always had the best of everything. They were spoiled from early on. Sarah is the one who is prone to throwing a fit if she doesn't get her way.

It would be an understatement to say that Shane was a handful growing up. Shane was a lot to deal with since day one. Removing backs to any remote he could find and hiding the batteries all over the house, figuring out how to climb over child gates and unlock child locks that were designed to keep him out of places.

As he got older the mischief advanced. His freshman year of high school his parents divorced. It kind of changed Shane's world. He was not happy about it. Not at all. It wasn't a good divorce. It was bitter. It was a large factor into WHY he stayed back. Skipping school, playing pranks that were sure to land him a spot in detention. (Though he was no stranger to detention, in school suspension and the occasional out of school suspension especially in middle school.) Shane could have progressed to the next year had he gone to summer school to make up for the time he missed and the classes he failed. Did he though? No. And when his mom said he had to go, he spent the summer with his father. His father was too busy to make him do anything. Shane told him he was going. But of course he didn't.

He's currently repeating his freshman year. He'd going, for the most part. He still skips on occasion but being a slacker seems to be in his blood. He can't help it. Unfortunately he discovered the basketball team and made his way onto that. With that its REQUIRED to keep your grades a certain level and all of that. What a shame. Though, being on the team means lots of cheerleaders giving him a lot of attention and he's okay with that.
