A basic timeline of events before the game leading up to the game's start of 31st October, 1998. Players can use this as a guide when applying for a character and writing their history. Most of the dates have been taken from the Harry Potter Lexicon and have just been modified to suit the game. 1940's

1946 - The Knights of Walpurgis, a Pureblood supremest group, is formed and wins that year's Ministry elections by playing on the old Pureblood families' fear that Muggleborns will change their society and take it over for themselves. The first Minister for the Knights was Abraxas Malfoy, who led the country until his untimely death of dragon pox in the mid-seventies. He brought forth the Muggleborn Registration Act which still stands today. Early members of the Knights include Avery, Dolohov, Nott, Rosier and Mulciber.

1950's

1954 - Lucius Malfoy is born.

1958-59 - James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Lily Evans, Severus Snape and others in their year at school are born.

1960's

1969 - Molly Prewett and Arthur Weasley wed.

1970's

1970 - James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Lily Evans, Severus Snape and others start their first year at school. Bill Weasley is born.

1973 - Charlie Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks are born.

1974 - Sirius Black (age 15), disgusted by his parents support of the 'Riddle Regime', runs away from home and is blasted from the Black Family Tree.

1975 - Marcus Flint and Oliver Wood are born.

1976 - Abraxas Malfoy dies of dragon pox. There is a formal Ministry funeral attended by many of the Pureblood elite. Succeed by Cornelius Fudge as Minister - a bumbling fool who is easily bought by the Knights. Percy Weasley and Penelope Clearwater are born.

1978 - Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Alicia Spinnet, Adrian Pucey and Dominic Montague are born. Lily Evans and James Potter wed, Sirius Black acting as Best Man.

1979 - Katie Bell, Hermione Granger and Tiger-Lily Oswauld-Spinks are born.

1980's

1980 - Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Neville Longbottom and others in their year at school are born.

1981 - Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood and Colin Creevey are born.

1982 - Astoria Greengrass is born.

1990's

1991 - Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Neville Longbottom and others start their first year at school. For the Muggleborns of Harry's year, it is the start of a reprieve from being treated differently as Albus Dumbledore did not tolerate prejudice in the school (that is not to say it didn't happen, of course - kids will bully one another).

1994 - Quidditch World Cup is hosted in the UK. Ireland wins but Viktor Krum (from Bulgaria) catches the Snitch. The Triwizard Tournament starts at Hogwarts. Beaubatons, Durmstrang and Hogwarts each have a champion. Cedric Diggory (from Hogwarts) is named the winner.

1995 - The Order of the Phoenix - a new group formed in oppose to the Knights - gathers strength with more Muggleborns, Half-bloods and even some Pureblood families seeking a Ministry reform and sick of the Knight's increasingly outlandish laws regarding Muggleborns. The latest sending in an 'enforcer' (Umbridge) into Hogwarts to tell Dumbledore how things should be run.

1996 - The sacking of Cornelius Fudge as Minister. He is replaced by Pius Thicknesse - the current Minister of Magic.

1997-98 - Harry Potter and the rest of his year's final year at school.

1998 - The Ministry decides, to boost moral and to ease the unrest developing within society between Purebloods and Muggleborn, to host a Halloween Festival in various wizarding locations across the UK. The Minister will be attending the one in the only all-wizarding village, Hogsmeade, which will be attacked by vigilantes against the Knight's Regime. This will start a chain of events that will lead to anyone affiliated with the Order of Phoenix to be branded a traitor and thrown in Azkaban for treason. Game starts 31st October, 1998.
