Sirius felt like he wasn't even friends with his own friends anymore. He spent most of his time with Lily and some of the other Gryffindor boys, but it wasn't the same as being with his other friends. His real friends. He knew that James wouldn't talk to him after he'd been with Lily, Peter was busy being up James's arse. So that only left Remus.

He crept into the room they shared and found Remus laying there asleep. He sat on the floor beside his bed and waited for the other boy to wake up.

Remus didn't know what to do about the break-up. He'd come back to Hogwarts and acted like everything was normal. Things were weird with everyone but Peter, and Peter wouldn't be his first choice when it came to asking for a sympathetic shoulder. Telling James would seem like he was coming on to James. Sirius was mad at him. Lily was Sirius's girlfriend.

When he woke up and found Sirius sitting beside his bed, apparently watching him sleep, it just slipped out. "I miss you," he said. "Rabastan and I broke up."

Sirius looked at Remus when he started to wake up and gave him a soft smile. He turned so he was on his knees, at the edge of Remus's bed when Remus said what he said, taking him off guard. But, it made him grin anyway.

"I miss you too." Sirius promised him, then reached out and ran his fingers through the other boy's hair. "I'm sorry that the two of you broke up."

	"Your smile says otherwise." Remus smiled a little, watching Sirius. Sometimes it was uncanny how well his animagus form suited him. "I know you didn't like us dating, but it's nice to hear anyway." 	Glancing at the spot, Sirius nodded and stood up a bit so he could slide in beside him. He pressed close to Remus, even if he knew he shouldn't, then kissed his forehead softly and smiled. "It's not my fault I'm smiling. I'm a very cheerful bloke, you know." He teased and then rested his hand on Remus's hip, brushing against his skin. "We've always been friends." Remus laughed softly. "I'm glad to hear it," he said. "It hasn't really felt like we're friends for the past couple weeks. And James is..." Remus shook his head. "Peter is the only one who isn't fighting or acting weird with everyone else."

He reached up and touched Sirius's hair, smiling at him. "Rabastan found someone who makes him happy so I'm just trying to be happy for him."

	Sirius leaned into Remus's touch, his eyes closing as he whimpered like a dog. Remus knew that he liked being pet. It wasn't fair, really. He smiled at Remus for a moment, then kissed him softly on the cheek. "I want you to be happy." Sirius told him, then kissed his forehead and his nose. "You need to be happy. I love you." 	"I just want everyone to stop fighting with each other," Remus said, smiling at Sirius and scratching him behind the ears a little. "Let's pretend it's fifth year when I got to meet Padfoot, Prongs, and Wormtail for the first time. That was me happy." He laughed, rolling onto his back. 	"No one would miss Wormtail. You could eat him and no one would know." Sirius smiled and rolled over when Remus did, so that he was on top of him, his leg between the other boys. Remus laughed a little, but it was hard to pretend that Sirius was Padfoot when he was obviously Sirius and he felt and looked like a very attractive boy on top of him. Remus's body knew what they should be doing about it, even if his mind didn't agree.

"Sirius, you --" He wrinkled his nose, turning his head a little. "If you were Padfoot I could give you a proper scratch."

	Sirius was a tad bit excited himself. He smiled down at Remus for a moment, then cleared his throat. Remus was so pretty. His eyes were so blue and his hair was just.. perfect. All the time. Remus tensed a little when Sirius kissed him. This... He gave Sirius a sad look and moved away. "We shouldn't," he said, voice soft. "You have a girlfriend. Lily. Rabastan just broke up with me. I'm not thinking clearly."

He ran his fingers over Sirius's hair and smiled at him. "I'm sorry too. That things are the way they are. I know they could have been different."

"I don't think Lily hates you, Sirius, but if you're... if you're not happy then maybe you should end it." Remus ran a hand through his hair, looking at Sirius for a moment. "I can't... We can't unless you and Lily aren't together anymore. You understand that, don't you?"

He bumped their knees together gently. "And I care about you too much to jump into something right now, when it would just make everything infinitely more complicated."

"I remember some of your breakups," Remus said, laughing a little. "It's... I don't know, Sirius. Lily is my friend. It's hard for me to think about hurting her. But I guess... you're the one who's dating her now. It's probably harder for you."

He found a shirt and pulled it on, then sat on the edge of the bed while he waited for his erection to go away. "You could tell her the truth. It's Lily. She's probably going to hit you no matter what."

"I thought you didn't want Lily to hit you?" Remus was having difficulty remembering that this a terrible idea when Sirius was kissing his neck. Also that he was trying to calm down and not have sex with him.

"She's going to slap you even harder if you break up with her and then suggest her watching us shag." He reached up and touched Sirius's cheek. "Do you want her to watch?"

Remus felt his heart shudder at that. He closed his eyes for a moment, leaning closer to Sirius. This was a bad idea. He wasn't over Rabastan yet. Sirius had a girlfriend. A girl Remus still wanted to be friends with. Remus was a werewolf and ultimately that meant that this was unfair to Sirius.

He let out a breath, rubbing his thumb across Sirius's sharp cheekbone as he opened his eyes. "Okay," he said, feeling weak and needy. He brushed their lips together again.

Remus laughed softly, kissing Sirius's neck. "Maybe we should just annoy the house-elves until they agree to bake one for us," he said. "Lily might appreciate a house-elf cake more."

He stood again and linked their hands together. "I'll come with you. Let's not tell James and Peter for now, okay? I know once Lily knows it'll be public record, but I'd sort of like to keep it between us until then." He felt like he should explain it to James in person.

	Remus laughed. "It's been a while since I heard a serious/Sirius joke," he said, ruffling his friend's hair. "I've missed you a lot." In some ways, this helped to make up for the loss of Rabastan. Not completely, and it still hurt, but this made it a bit better. (Reply to this)(Parent)
