"You might have mentioned it once back in the day," Charlie sing-songed, making a goofy face back at Jenny. The goof quickly melted away and was replaced with a small smile. "Yup! Just you and me kid, promise." She was looking forward to a chance to spend some time with Jenny away from everyone else. She wouldn't have to look over her shoulder to make sure Alex wasn't about to bite the other girls head off. It would be nice, to be able to be herself fully.
"Fine, fine!" Charlie finally caved, "I won't say anything else bout babies or your sis!" She blushed a bit when Jenny called her a pervert, and rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. Charlie hadn't meant to be so forward, it had just kind of slipped out. "Sorry," she mumbled, giving Jenny a shy smile as they walked. "I couldn't help it, you're just so cute when you blush." Charlie let the barb about Alex roll off of her and quickly abandoned Jenny's hand to wrap her arm around the smaller girl's shoulders. "Hey, it's alright," she said quietly, giving Jenny a small squeeze. "Alex is really demanding of my time, it's true. I've missed you though Jen, especially on Saturday mornings in the parking lot." She was too mad at Alex deep down to let Jenny's comment bother her. It was easier to just ignore how much it had truly hurt her and focus on the girl who was currently in front of her. Letting her usual goofy smile slide back onto her face, she figured that keeping things light would be best for both of them. "I did hear a rumor from my personal assistant that a block of time just opened up," she teased, giving Jenny's shoulder a small squeeze and returning her hand to the other girls. "Seems like she might have penciled you in for a few places in the near future. What do your people say about that, huh? You got some time for little old me?" She squeezed Jenny's hand, and turned to face her so that she was walking backwards, leading Jenny down the path as she looked at her. "It could be fun?" She offered, tilting her head to the side. "I have been known to show a gal a good time."
"Don't be," Jenny replied quickly, looking up at Charlie and giving her a weak smile, "I don't mind," she assured her. Leaning into the arm that came to wrap around her shoulders while they walked, Jenny sighed a little. "I missed you too," she admitted. "I guess with Head Girl stuff and everything this year, and there was the explosion and stuff, and then all of this happened.."
Trailing off, the shorter blonde chewed her lip a bit, sighing. "Between all of that and spending time with Sera.. I forgot I had old friends who still cared about me, I guess," she replied, looking a little sad but perking up once she saw the goofy grin on Charlie's face. It cheered her up rather effortlessly. "Oh, you heard that, did you? Well I was talking to my personal assistant earlier, and she that she made some time for you between my next midday sobbing and my next pint of mint chocolate ice cream," she joked back, squeezing the younger girl's hand back again and grinning at her as she walked backwards before her. "Don't trip," she warned her automatically, ever cautious. "I think it sounds fun. I mean, if you really don't mind someone so mopey.."
Charlie was glad to see the other girl perk up so quickly. She knew how down Jenny was feeling inside, the older girl was an emotional mess. She hoped that if she could distract the smaller girl with something fun it would help her forget, even just for a little while. "Well we don't have to miss each other anymore," she said with a happy smile. "As long as you share that pint of ice cream with me, then I suppose we can make whatever this is work."
Grinning automatically at Jenny's warning, she leaned forward and gave the girl a small peck on the cheek. Jenny had always been a little worry wart. Charlie found it incredibly endearing, it was pretty cute that the girl would show concern for her. "You're cute, you know that?" she asked quietly, slowing her walking so that they were almost nose to nose. She dropped the girl's hand again to drape her arms loosely around the older girl's shoulders. "I've thought so for a very long time," She admitted with a small smile, her face flushing. "I think Charlie always knew, but he never said anything. Good guy." She felt a little bit worried that this would be too intimate for Jenny. They were still dawdling along the path, Charlie's legs being spaced wider than normal. She wondered if Jenny would be mad at her for "accidentally" tripping and bringing them both down onto the wooded path. Fake stumbling a bit, she grinned devilishly as it bumped their bodies closer together. "Ooops!" She giggled, winking at Jenny. "That was a close one." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
