Michi bit the inside of her lip nervously as she listened to Hunter. It was strange that the two of them were suddenly so shy and silly but it was humbling to know they could both make each other feel that way. She flushed a little when Hunter said she wanted to be with her.
She rested her head against the blonde's shoulder and sighed contentedly. "I want you to be there with me Hunt, I don't trust anyone else... I never... I never felt this way about anyone else," she said quietly.
Hunter felt her heart racing, similar to the way it did before and after a good Quodpot game. There was something distinctly different about it though, this was almost a little better. She still felt as electric and hyped as she did earlier, but on ten fold, grinning wildly as Michi's head found her shoulder. "Is that a real life 'yes' then?" she asked, feeling and hoping she knew the answer.
Mack would probably rip on her for being such a sap later, but her best friend knew how she felt about their other best friend. So much as she tried to act like a tough guy all of the time, her affection for Michiko had always sort of shined through. She didn't hate all of Michi's boyfriends all as much as Pascual, but she had never really liked any of them. No one seemed good enough.
Michi felt warm all over, she just wanted to stay there all night holding onto Hunter like it was the only thing that mattered. She smiled and gave a little giggle. "Yes, a real life proper yes," she said nuzzling Hunter's neck.
She knew it was silly but she hadn't felt so at peace in a long time.
Laughing lightly as Michi nuzzled at her neck, Hunter squeezed her eyes shut tightly. "Sweet," she whispered back contently, reaching up and wrapping her arms loosely around the younger girl. She gave her a comforting little squeeze, hands absently tracing over her back as they stood there.
She was reluctant to break the embrace herself, but knowing they had to go and do something with the other girl's wrist. She was starting to get a little headache herself, now that the height of the fight was behind her. Pascual had gotten in a few good knocks, and her head was thick but far from invincible. "I think I'm havin' shots and aspirin for a night snack.. sound good?" she suggested innocently, grinning again.
Michi nodded and continued walking toward University House feeling a little more bounce in her step than before. Of course there was the aching pain in her wrist and knuckles but she knew that was only temporary.
"I'd say we earned it," she smirked giving Hunter's butt a little smack. "Good game champ."
"We totally fuckin' earned it," she agreed, laughing as she was smacked, giving the younger girl a mock stern look. "Hey! Don't start that shit, 'cos I could out spank ya any night guaranteed," she challenged, eyebrows wiggling.
She felt better the closer they got to home, and she convinced herself not to look backward again. He'd probably be slinking back eventually, but for now, they had time to get upstairs and get fixed up. "If Mack comes over to look at that thing," she began, motioning to the other girl's wrist as a sudden thought came to her. "You can't-- y'know, tell her that I was all.. y'know. I was all tough, no mushy stuff, right? Our secret?" she suggested, looking at Michi with a little pout.
"Promise?!" she giggled as they neared the building. She knew better than to get started with that on a school night, the thought had her laughing even harder.
"Hey, you're always a tough broad but as long as I get to see that cuddly side," she grinned. "I'll take it to the grave."
"On my life!" she assured Michi, grinning. She had other things on her mind for once, such as getting the other girl's wrist fixed up and a pouring a couple of stiff drinks, but she was never opposed to a little teasing. Plus they did have all night.
"That's what I like to hear, babe.. jus' what I like to hear," Hunter agreed happily, stopping their walk as they reached just a couple of paces from the University house. Just outside the door, the blonde girl leaned in and kissed Michi again, letting their noses brush slightly as she pulled back. "Y'know I'm just a cuddlin' bug on the inside, goddamn.
Michi grinned into the kiss and felt her cheeks burning all over again. "I know you are," she said squeezing Hunter's hand with her good one. "You're wicked cute too," she said giving her a little cuddle bump. "But that's not really something I can keep secret," she grinned.
"It's hard work to be this cute but I guess I make it look real easy," Hunter shot back, grinning even wider. It felt so good to be smiling and laughing after everything, and she was still glad that it looked like they were off the hook with Pascual for a while. For tonight, she just wanted to focus on them. She'd focus on kicking his ass for good another time.
"Ready to go up and get some rest, gorgeous?" she asked, tucking some stray hair behind the other girl's ear.
"You make everything look easy," she grinned.
She got up on her tip toes and kissed Hunter just once more, she told herself it would be the last time before they got inside and fixed her wrist, it was really starting to hurt now that the adrenaline of the fight was wearing off. "I'm fuckin' exhausted," she yawned. "And my booboo," she tried not to pout but couldn't help it.
"Let's bounce and fix that booboo then, crybaby!" Hunter joked with her, nuzzling their noses together just one more time before taking the last few steps toward the door. Holding it open for the younger girl, she ushered Michi inside and took one last glance toward the direction they had come from.
To the blonde, everything felt like it was pretty much gravy. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
