Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
holden, little miah

With his father gone most of the time, Holden had learned to distance himself from the pack, but over the past year and a half that had slowly started to change. After how things had gone south with Robin, and then when the boy was found alive and brought back, Holden learned that pack was important. He and Robin were building some sort of a friendship, and it was actually relieving to Holden to not have to avoid someone he cared abotu so much. He just wanted Robin to be happy, and sometimes he felt that one thing Robin really needed was just a friend. Nothing less, nothing more, just someone to be there without expectations or some sort of lingering attachment. It was easy for Holden to be that friend now that he'd confronted his own feelings and had moved on.

Tonight he'd eaten at the mainhouse and then he'd talked with Hunter for a few minutes about colleges before he came back downstairs with a book in tow from the alpha. He was tugging his coat on, ready to go home.

When Miah saw that Holden was wrapping things up with Hunter he went running into his room to get his boots and his coat and all of the things that Hunter got for him so that he would be warm in the winter. He pulled his boots on and he tugged on his little knit cap and his mittens. His scarf was tied around his neck and he could hear Holden pulling on his coat as he rushed down the stairs with his own coat in his hand. He was already in his pjs, Wendell had gotten him ready for bed and though he'd been laying down he had stayed awake to listen for Holden. As he hustled across the kitchen he was pulling on his coat and trying to do too many things at once (just getting to Holden and getting his coat on) he barely had both arms in the sleeves when he wiped out and went down hard, sliding across the floor to Holden's feet.

Holden heard the ruckus in the kitchen and turned to see who was in there when Miah came sliding out on the floor, right in front of him. He blinked and arched a brow before he knelt down to pluck the little boy up, who was completely bundled and ready to face the outdoors.

"Why're you rushing over here, all ready for the snow?" he asked with a smile.

Miah didn't cry as he stood up, he just let Holden get him back to his feet and then he smiled up at him. "Because I'm going to go with you!" He had it all planned out in his head and it seemed like a good idea. "I already got my pj's on, see?" He pointed down to his pajama pants and he lifted his leg up to make it more obvious. "So I can come over and sleep over at your house because I'm already ready for bed and I brushed my teeth with Wendell."

"Oh," Holden said with a warm laugh. Miah was absolutely adorable, and it was hard not to love the little boy. "Well, you're suppose to ask adults stuff like that first. So maybe you should go ask Hunter if that's all right, okay? I'll go with you," he said as he took a hold of Miah's hand and went back to Hunter's office.

"Oh okay." Miah took Holden's hand, his mitten covered fingers curling around the older wolf's. As they walked up the stairs towards Hunter's office he had to try very hard not to run because he was excited. He knocked when they got there and Hunter opened the door.

"Can I spend the night at Holden's tonight?" Miah asked, his head craned back as he looked all the way up at him.

"Yes, you may. If Holden says it is all right." That prompted MIah to look up and over at Holden. "Can I?"

"Yes you can," Holden said before he bent down to pick Miah up. "I'll bring him back over for breakfast," he told Hunter as he handed Miah the book Hunter had given him. "Hold that for me? Be really careful, it's Hunter's, and he doesn't like his books to get messed up," he told the little boy before he turned to head back downstairs and outside.

Miah wrapped his arm around Holden's shoulders and he kept the book in his other arm. "Can we watch a movie before we go to sleep?" he knew he was going to fall asleep before he could get through a whole movie anyway but he wanted to try anyway. "I want to watch a movie and and we can watch it in your bed." He nodded.

"All right, we can watch a movie," Holden said as he carried Julian across the snow covered ground and over to his house. Once they were up the porch steps and inside, he put Miah down and helped him out of his mittens, boots, and coat. "Want some cookies? Wendell made some and let me take a few over here," he smiled.

"Yep." He smiled at him and nodded. "Can I have some milk too?" Because Wendell usually gave him some warm milk before he went to sleep and it helped him settle down for the night. "What movie can we watch? What movies do you have?"

"I have all kinds of movies," Holden said as he shed his jacket and shoes, then took the book he'd given Miah to hold for him so that he could put it on the table beside the door. He plucked the little boy up and took him into the kitchen to get him a cup of milk. "Warm or cold?" he asked as he handed Miah a cookie.

"Warm please." Miah leaned back as he took the cookie and he smiled over at Miah. "Do you have winnie the pooh? That's my favorite." He'd like it since he'd first watched it with Hunter. Hunter had been trying to spend as much time with him and Julian as possible and he'd put it in one day and told them that his mother had watched it with him when he was a little boy.

"Uh, no, but I can pull some up on my computer I'm sure," Holden said as he put the milk in the microwave for a little bit to warm it up. When he was done, he took it out and plucked Miah up to carry him down the hall to where his room was. He put the little boy on the bed by the nightstand and handed him cup of milk and a cookie before he went to login to his netflix account to find a Winnie the Pooh movie. "Here's one," he said, "This one is about Tigger, this one is about Eeyore, this one is about Piglet, and this one is about Pooh. Which one do you wanna watch?"

"I want to watch the one about Winnie the Pooh." When he said it he ran the words together like winthepooh. Leaning back against the headboard he stretched his legs out and he held the milk tightly to make sure that he wasn't going to drop it. "Thanks for the milk and the cookies and the movie and letting me sleep over." wendell was teaching him manners.

"All right, Winnie the Pooh it is," Holden said with a smile as he hit play and moved to lay down next to Miah. He looped an arm around the little boy and pulled him onto his lap so that they could watch the movie together. "And you're very welcome, thanks for coming to keep me company."

Smiling, he laid his head against Holden's shoulder and he watched the movie. Once his cookie was gone and the milk was gone he just laid against against him. It didn't take long for him to drift off to sleep, he barely made it through half an hour of the movie.

Holden let his fingers drift back and forth through Miah's hair while they laid there together and watched the movie. When the little boy fell asleep, he curled up beneath the blankets with Miah in tow and drifted off himself.
