After Prom Party

Each year the students are given the option of an after prom party held in the Dresden Hall gymnasium. This year the gym was divided up into several diversions.

One quarter of the room is sectioned off with sumptuous fabric and lush pillows for students who want a break from all the excitement. Another quarter is filled with theatre chairs and a big screen television for an all night long movie marathon; a quieting charm on the perimeter keeps the noise from the other activities. A third quarter of the room is filled with games and other such entertainments. The final quarter is set up with tables and refreshments.

Students are locked in at 11:00pm and are only allowed to leave with a chaperon to escort them back to their dorm. Doors unlock at 7:00am so that students may go to breakfast in the main dining hall.

  Xavier had gotten pretty stoned, having snuck off during the actual dancing part of the prom. He had somehow managed to set himself up in the movie corner with one arm propping his head up. He looked over at his fellow University student and grinned stupidly. "Elephants are the fucking bomb," he laughed lightly. "But if I'm being honest I have no clue where that big motherfucker came from."
  
  Come to think of it, he hadn't been paying attention to the film at all.

    "Aw fuck." Xavier was high, at least he had an excuse to be watching the foot-faced matinee idol jumping across train carriages. She didn't. "I am not down with this."
    
    She pushed herself up on to her elbows to see who else was watching this film. There was a couple on Xavier's other side who were clearly more interested in getting their tongues as far down each other's throat as possible in the relative darkness than watching the screen. A girl a bit in front of them had fallen asleep. She turned back to Xavier.
    
    "I'm changing DVDs, any requests?"

      "Do you have the one where like the dog and the cat are trying to go home and there's like train tracks and a waterfall? Or maybe the one where the guy is like..." here Xavier lowered the tone of his voice in his best Christian Bale impression. "Hey, I'm a good guy that's kind of a bad ass and I'll make myself look like the villain so your city doesn't get all jaded by the identity of the actual villain because he used to be a good guy and fuck you joker," he giggled a little. "You know that one?"
