Who: Pepper and OPEN
What: Pepper's working at the shop over the weekend.
Where: Stark's Wands
When: Saturday afternoon of Parents' Weekend
Rating: Probably SFW
Pepper loved Parents' Weekend. It was probably one of the busiest times of year for her, besides that weird upswing over the summer around sorting at Dresden when parents brought their children in for their very first wand. She doubted any one would actually purchase a wand today, but people liked to look and ask questions.
She made sure the shop was perfectly clean before she opened and spent the next several hours wandering politely hovering and being generally available for customers. She'd even dressed somewhat respectably, at least by her father's standards. As the afternoon lulled she took a seat behind the check out counter and flipped through the pages of a wizarding magazine that sold mostly bath products through the mail. A few customers milled about, but no one seemed particular keen for her attention or help. She started making out a list of the things she'd like to purchase and crunched the numbers in her head.
When she looked back up the shop was picking up again. There were more bodies pressed inside, some students mingling in with the parents. She pushed aside the magazine and made herself look more available, waiting for someone to take enough of an interest to speak with her.

Pepper/Rhys
She followed his pointing and rolled her shoulders slightly. In two short questions Rhys dove right into the crux of Pepper's problem. "When he decides to retire I'm taking over that bit too. I've been doing custom jobs to keep my skills fresh."
Repairing was interesting work in its own right, but crafting a wand from scratch and then being able to pair it with the right user... It was on another level entirely. Pepper wasn't sure it was what she wanted with her life, but there was no other feeling like it. She couldn't deny that the hours spent crafting wands had been some of her happiest times. "And what do you do, if you don't mind me asking?"
Re: Pepper/Rhys
Rhys was happy enough for the conversation to turn to him and he straightened up a little when asked about his profession. "I'm an Auror. And no, that's not a joke," he offered Pepper a grin. "Though I'm currently working at Dresden as a guard. Sort of a probationary and 'until we have a role for you' kind of arrangement." He honestly didn't mind working at the school when he wasn't on night shift, though he was eager to assume something a little closer to his previous role. "A mate and I transferred over from the UK months ago now." He felt he should add that explanation in case she got the wrong idea about them being on probation. He hadn't been caught laundering dark artifacts or anything like that!

"An auror," she repeated, just a bit awed. Even if he was on some kind of probation, probably just a stipulation they placed on new aurors. "How do you like it on this side of the pond?"
