Alex Thorne unlocked the door to a small antiques shop called Curious Goods and opened the door. It was around noon and she was just opening the store. She didn't really keep set hours at the store since it was more of a hobby for her and not a means of income. She entered and flipped the light switch. Lights in the store came to life and revealed a shop full of old objects from all over the world. Some weren't worth much while more expensive items were hidden among the clutter.

An orange tabby meowed and brushed up against her legs. "Good morning, Plato," she said and reached down to give his ears a scritch. "Let's get this day started shall we?"

Jack was going around looking for rare books for his store and had been checking out some of the antique shops around Denver. He would probably end up checking out some of the flee markets nearby later.

While doing this could be tedious at times Jack did enjoy some of the memories the object could bring up at times and he had found some good finds doing this in the past too.

Opening the door to Curious Goods Jack walked inside.

"I'll be right with you," Alex said as she stood up on a high ladder searching a top shelf.

"Take your time," Jack says browsing those some of the antiques on a rack.

Screw it. If she didn't find it by now, it was somewhere else. Maybe her Italian villa. Huh. She would have sworn it was here in the shop.

She shook her head and climbed down from the ladder. She wiped her hands on her jeans.

"What can I do for you?"

She would find her self looking at a young men who looked straight out of college and for the most part talked the part.

"I was hoping to see any books you might have here," Jack says, "It seems like quite the collection you have here."

"I have many books," she said. "What specifically are you looking for?"

"Old and Rare are the basic requirements," Jack says, "But I will probably look through all of them if I have sometime."

With antique dealers in the past some of them did not know just how valuable or rare some of the books they had are or what the mystical value of some of their objects might be.

Alex knew exactly what she had on hand. Being a Guardian made her overly cautious about things she had in her possession. Nothing in the store was remarkable outside of being very old of course. The "fun" items were locked in vaults.

"Feel free to browse to your heart's content. If you are looking for something specific, let me know. I'm good at finding the rare and extremely hard to find."

Jack had heard about the guardians before in the past but had never actually met one or had to deal with one.

"Thanks," He says making his way over to a shelf of books, "Your stock seems quite good. Though like to think myself very good at finding those types of things myself."

Alex raised a brow for a brief moment at that comment. "Some people have a knack for it. Others make a living from it. Being in antiques, obviously I try to make a living off of it."

"More of a hobby for me that just can pay really well," Jack says looking over some of the books, "Looks like you do well enough for your self."

Money had never been much of a problem for him since he had started to learn Alchemy under Famel.

"Well enough," she said. "Keeps me fed and a roof over my head." Alex was actually quite rich, she just didn't flaunt it or show it. It was better to be inconspicuous whenever possible.

The book he saw were nothing he had not seen before and did not really interest him that much. Though a few he might be able to find interested buyers in if he tried. But none of these books had any true rarity to them nor mystical significance.

"I can't help but notice where do you keep your truly rare book," Jack says.

"You're a man after my own heart," she said and stepped out from behind the counter. She walked over to a large antique cabinet and fished out a key from a pocket. The lock released with a soft click and the doors opened. She pulled them back to reveal shelves of books behind glass. There was even a shelf that was stacked with scrolls.

"Very impressive," Jack says as he starts looking over the books and scrolls in the cabinet. He had already seen one or two titles that he could definitely find buyers for. He probably won't find anything for his personal library though but that was expect-able.

"Do you mind if I look over the scrolls to see what they are," He asks politely.

"Thanks," Jack says putting on the gloves and very carefully grabbing a scroll to read.

The scroll was a in Demotic and was in rather good condition plus the text seemed rather interesting from what he remembered of Demotic of the top of his head.

"This is in fantastic condition," Jack says, "And it's written in Demotic right." He did have to play the part of a kid out of college.

"Yes it is," she said. Not many would recognize Demotic if it was in front of them. She was a bit impressed. "I've had that for quite some time." At least a thousand years give or take a decade or two.

"I've got a professor who will be very happy to know some one wasn't sleeping through his big unit about the Rosetta Stone," Jack says which wasn't a lie, "Any idea of the content?" She seemed like the type that definitely had a full translation of it somewhere.

He had gotten that much from what he could translate with his rusty Demotic.

It was always this way. Finding an artifact took time, dead ends, and yes, usually bodies too, but once found there was always a question of: What now? He had been more familiar with ways to tip off the Guardians to these things back in Europe. The network had been more well known to him there, but here it was another matter. Not only did there seem to be less artifacts, but even fewer knew of their existence, making the whole process that much more of a hassle. But this artifact was of no use to him, but he didn't want it in the hands of anyone who might make use of it, so tipping off the Guardians it was.

Rics enters Curious Goods, vague rumours and the reputation of the place in the antiques world having led him here, in far more casual clothing than he'd normally wear, trying to look his physical age.

The man in question looked to be about mid-teens, probably not the usual age bracket for her customers, and dressed casually in jeans and an American Apparel looking hoodie. He had nothing against hoodies, but if it wasn't for trying to look his age he'd never have worn such a bright blue one. Fashions could be annoying.

"Sort of. My uncle sent me, he wanted some old thing off his hands, said he heard you treated antiques well so here I am," he shrugs and responds in a good copy of the local accent. How he hated playing these innocent average-kid parts. Well at least if this checked out and she could get artifacts to the guardians then he'd pay someone to do the next visit like this for him.

"No idea," he shrugs and begins fishing through pockets. "Keeps odds and ends of all kinds, doesn't even have a lot with him, just leaves it in a storage thing or with someone else if he has no space." Keeping up the act gives him some time to study the place a little. No junk disguised as antique like some places, but then again there wasn't anything of particular value out anywhere either. Curious, but a good sign. This one knew what she was doing.

"You'll have to talk to him about prices, I think he's just giving away most of it. The rest he'd probably negotiate with you once you check it out," he flashes a friendly smile and hands her a piece of paper. "He said if you gave this to the guy at this address he'd show you the storage box with the stuff. Pick what you want."

He keeps up the act for now, there were actual antique books and various knickknacks there, but the artifact in question was one of those less impressive ones that would look like someone had accidentally dropped it there. Nobody who didn't already know what these things were would give it a second glance. He'd go check in a few months to see if she'd taken it, if not well, he'd find some other way to get rid of it.

"He'll be glad to hear it," he responds with a polite smile. He glances around the place once more to see if there was anything he'd send someone for at another time, people his apparent age didn't frequent antique shops, he'd need to find someone to do it for him. Not that that was ever hard.

"Thank you for your time, I hope you find something in there. I really don't know what he keeps in those boxes." Mission over. He turns and leaves, the youthful smile he'd been using as a mask disappears as he vanishes into the crowds in the street.
