The moment it took to focus was a moment of almost smiling. Between his childhood and the book in his hand, Shino clearly didn't need all the facial cues most people took to understand when another human being was making a recognizable expression. There was enough of a crinkle to the young woman's eyes, the slightest lift of her brows and the little twitch of her cheekbones, to indicate a smile with the same bold ease another person might have needed a pair of curled lips to understand.
"Hey," he replied in a calm quiet tone. With a single motion Shino properly adjusted his glasses on his thumb and swept his book back into his bag. His own version of a smile--a faint echo of what was on Sakura's face--turned slightly sheepish (mostly around the corners of his lips) as he caught sight of his watch. "...sorry I took so long."
