i'm totally writing this as it comes to mind so if it doesn't make any sense that's why :[ they could be friends, but since they're both sarcastic little brats we could mix it up a bit and say that they've got an ongoing inside joke where they "hate" each other because someone overheard their banter and thought they were being serious, so they just kind of play along with it for kicks
