Thoreau's breath caught in his throat when Merlin pressed on his bruise, but he did his best not to like it too much. He was already on probation with Rooney. Self-destructing wasn't an option.
"Interesting?" He leaned back a bit so Merlin could get a better look at the bruises. "I think so. I like being with someone who's not afraid to hurt me."
