"I'll do the candles," Lucius said, because it seemed like a good way to get out of talking about his former drug habit and/or how apparently offering to introduce Evan to his friends still didn't count as people knowing about them. He extracted himself from Evan and walked into the kitchen.
Christina felt awful now. She stuffed the key in her pocket and walked back out to the living room, not really feeling like having a birthday party anymore. She and Evan didn't have the best relationship with their parents, but she didn't want to just... tell them she was moving out and leave to move in with her Headmaster. Even if Tom was willing to support her financially, it was a huge step. She gave Evan and Narcissa a tight smile. "Sorry we disappeared. Thank you for coming. It's lovely."
