Backstory:
James "Buck" Rogers was born to Steve and Rachel Rogers a little over a year after they finally reconciled and married. Much to Steve's occasional chagrin, this also meant that his child had three ex-criminals referring to themselves as James' "Fairy Godmothers", who took it upon themselves to try and make sure that their godchild was taught all the things Captain America wouldn't pass on.
Even at a young age, James was already being called "Bucky"... eventually shortened to just "Buck" Rogers, because of his desire to be a great hero following in the footsteps of his father, and was likewise a classic overacheiver. He had to get straight A's, he had to participate in every activity he could - and excel at them, and he'd keep trying, obsessively, until he got it right. After hearing about five year old circus acrobats in China, for example, he practiced until he could copy every move of theirs he saw on TV - while not letting his grades or anything else slip. He began watching martial arts routines - and trying to copy the moves, while begging his parents to train him or let him take classes. He skipped kidnergarten and first grade entirely, entering second grade at 6.
In his second year of gradeschool he was kidnapped by the Red Skull. Originally intended as bait for Captain America, after he nearly escaped on his own, a new plan was formed. He was brainwashed, and put into training with the Taskmaster - who found an eager student, now desiring to lead the Skull's agenda. By the time four years had passed, his parents had given up hope - until Black Mamba received a tip through old contacts that Hydra was planning something. Eventually, the Skull's youth facilities were raided - and while unplanned, the Skull attempted to manipulate Captain America into accidentally killing his own son. The effort was foiled by the B.A.D. Girls, and Buck was rescued, but it took a long time and extensive psychic help to deal with the brainwashing, but eventually, Buck was recovered, and from that point on was homeschooled, with his godmothers, other Avengers and Avengers' staff contributing to his education.
So far as anyone can tell, the only remnant of the kidnapping is that he continues Taskmaster's brutal training regimen, and insists on meeting the highest standards.
Kept sheltered as long as his father could manage, given how shaken Steve was left by coming close to crippling or killing his own son, Buck has finally proven himself capable, and ready to begin trying to take his place as a hero in his own right, at least among his own peers.
How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?:
Buck will be joining the Young Avengers, trying to earn a leadership role with the team, or at least prove himself on his first mission.
What are you planning to do with this character?
Eventually, try and become a leader for the Young Avengers, and grow as a hero in his own right, along with perhaps eventually becoming a little more socialized.
What do you want to see happen with this character?:
Buck needs to get more time in with kids his own age, develop socially - to help balance out his intense focus on becoming a hero, having been somewhat sheltered for a portion of his life, and having lost a lot of his childhood to being kidnapped.
