Pyxis Nott was four years old the first time she ever met Rider Macnair. She was feeling very uncomfortable in a large, pink and glitzy dress her mother had shoved her into. Rider Macnair hadn't let his mother shove him into anything he didn't want to wear. He had on jeans and a t-shirt and he was glaring at all the adults who were looking at him like he was a house-elf. He knew tons of different wants to kill them, so they should be nicer.

What was in it for him? Pyxis looked back at the boy for a moment, frowning deeply, then shook her head. Obviously he was going to be a mean boy and she didn't like mean people. So she looked him over once more.

And then she was kicking him hard with her foot into his knee. "Get me a biscuit!" She told him, then swiped the one in his hand and shoved it into her own mouth, giving him a daring look.
