June squeaked in surprise when Regulus actually turned into a dog, but then he was a dog and he had such big, brown eyes. She smiled, crouching down beside him and putting her books down.
"You are adorable," she said, running her hand over his side and then scratching him behind the ears, cooing just a little. She'd always wanted a dog. Her father thought snakes were more appropriate pets. "Do you like fetch? We could play fetch this weekend."
