It had been weeks and Draco still wasn't use to this new world. Everything was just off, and he wasn't getting memories of what the old him had been like. It was starting to frustrate him. Pansy was still basically the same person, but the history was different, and Draco didn't like being around people who looked at him and expected him to be someone he wasn't. When he talked to Merlin he could see the disappointment in his eyes, even though Merlin was the one who'd fucked and impregnated his mother, and Charlie Weasley's face when he looked at him was currently making Draco skip Care of Magical Creatures.

He looked up at the ceiling of the Slytherin common room and contemplated the possibility of trying to go back again to change things and see what happened. Or maybe he could send someone else back and then he'd at least remember whatever new reality was created. As long as it wasn't really multiple realities. This was making his brain hurt. Draco looked up from sulking at the ceiling and spotted Rex Lestrange. Someone who didn't know him, who he didn't know, who he'd gotten along with in Hogsmede before he'd disappeared with Rider Macnair. Draco got up and moved to sit beside the other boy. Fuck it. "Running away from school for a week sounds like heaven. Did you have fun?"

	"Did I have fun" Rex wasn't expecting Draco to talk to them. After all, they hadn't talked to each other in a while. Since Hogsmeade. He laughed a bit and ran a hand through his hair, shrugging. Draco looked at Rex for a moment and then laughed. "I wish," he said. "You have no idea how much I wish I could. I really don't think anyone would be very happy with me if I did. I'd probably have to file a report first or something."

He ran a hand through his hair. "I miss France," he said. "You must too. You went to Beauxbatons. The food and the art and the clothes." Draco shook his head. "It's been a long time since I went." He didn't know if that was true for him here, or if he'd ever been at all, but in his reality it had been a couple of years. Since his father started getting obsessed with the Dark Lord.

	"I'm going to move there as soon as I can." Rex admitted as he looked at Draco. He smiled. "I turn seventeen in four months. I'm going to quit Hogwarts and move back to France. Get a real job. Draco laughed at that. "Only recently," he said. "It's a bad habit I've gotten into." He shrugged and pulled his feet up onto the furniture to feel a bit more rebellious. "Maybe I should change that. Everyone else seems to be breaking the rules, even my mother."

He glanced at Rex. Draco loved his mother, even this version of her, but the news of Winter's uncertain parentage was spreading fast anyway. "My new sister doesn't belong to the father everyone thought she did, or my father, or even my father's lover."

	Rex arched a brow at that. Was Draco Malfoy opening up to him? It was kind of odd, but not unwelcome. He kind of wanted to make friends while he was here and Draco was probably a good ally to have. 	Draco just wanted to have someone to talk to who didn't have a bunch of assumptions about him built up in their heads already. He and Rex could be friends. They could be good friends. "However, if my father was a woman, I'd probably have tons of siblings. My father is a bit of a whore, if I'm honest. And he does it all in the name of the dark lord." Draco wrinkled his nose at that. "My father is gay as well, but I don't think my mother is bitter about it. Apparently she just sleeps around." And cried, but talking about his mother crying in front of his younger brother seemed more personal than he sleeping with men who weren't her boyfriend. "I'm still not sure what the Dark Lord wants me to do, besides marry his son."

Draco made a face at that. "Maybe," he said. "She's maybe going to get stuck with him. I'd rather she was with someone else, even if he is pretty." Draco would rather marry Pansy than Merlin, but it wasn't like he could change that now.

"I don't object to marrying well to keep blood pure." Although he was a little worried about what two men were supposed to do for children. "I'd just want Pansy to be happy."

Draco made a face at what Rex was saying. "I'd call it awful, not ridiculous. I don't want to think about how the children are going to be produced. And I'm meant to be the Malfoy heir. If they make me take the name Riddle it's going to be hard to continue the family line."

He ran a hand through his hair. "I don't envy you either," he told Rex. "Even if you're planning on getting out of what everyone's got planned for you."

	Rex hadn't thought about that before he spoke. He looked at Draco for a moment and laughed. "They're a Muggle store. It's called Valentino. My father really loves his stuff and I need a new one." A muggle store. That had the potential to be dangerous, but Draco wasn't going to sit around and be good all the time. He didn't want to be boring. He'd been listening to muggle music before, with Charlie Weasley, so why not wear muggle clothes?

"Let's go," he said, getting to his feet. "I can leave school whenever I want anyway. You can debate getting your boyfriend a suit when we get there."

	Rex laughed and stood up with Draco. "Sounds good." He told him and then glanced at Rider as he walked into the room. He walked over to him and flicked his wand to measure him for a suit, then leaned in and kissed him when the numbers came back to him. "See you later." He caught up with Draco again. Draco glanced at Macnair, laughing at how confused he looked, and nodded. "Let's," he agreed. "You're going to have to tell me where we're going."

He led Rex out of the common room and headed towards his father's office. He always seemed to hang around Professor Rosier anyway. Less questions would be asked. "Are you going to take Macnair with you when you run away?"

Draco had no idea how relationships were, but he nodded because Rex obviously had a lot of experience that he'd missed out on. Sort of. Charlie Weasley probably counted, but that hadn't been him and whatever had existed there was gone now. "Some relationships last," he pointed out. "My father's been with his boyfriend for a long time. My grandfather and Tom have been together even longer."

He gave Rex a shocked look. "Really?" he asked. "Walden Macnair is in love with Rabastan Lestrange? That's... I wouldn't have suspected it."

"It's a good thing Tom's keeping them both young, then," Draco said. He knew what the Dark Lord was like with no one keeping him in check. Crazy and cruel and evil. "I wouldn't want to live in a world where there was no one he'd listen to."

Draco looked at Rex, shrugging. "I don't have a lot of contact with the Macnairs," he said. "I know he's an executioner." He opened the door to his father's office, glancing around it, but no one was there. "Come on. He's probably with Rosier."

Draco brushed ash off his clothes as he looked around the house. "It's nice," he said. He wondered if his family had any international houses anymore. It didn't seem like it would be easy for them to leave England, with how high-profile they were now. "Have you ever been to Malfoy Manor before?"

He looked down at the way he was dressed and then shrugged his robes off. "If we're going to be going to Muggle London I suppose I should try to blend in."

Draco shrunk his robe to fit in his pocket as he followed Rex out the door. "No," he said. "My family definitely isn't in to muggle shops. We're Malfoys."

He glanced at Rex as they walked down the street. "I'm not completely sheltered. I've listened to muggle music and that sort of thing. I've been in the muggle world a couple of times. I've just never gone shopping there."

"I like chips," he said. He eyed the vehicle for a moment and then got in the passenger's side. "Is this thing safe?" he asked, closing the door. "Do you know how to use it?" He'd never been in one, but he remembered when Weasley and Potter flew a muggle car into a tree their second year.

He ran a hand through his hair and looked at Rex. "I'm going to be completely out of my depth all day, aren't I?"

"It's completely safe." Rex assured Draco as he pulled out of the drive way and began to drive down the road. He glanced around the streets, having not been home in so long. It didn't feel like home.

But, he smiled at Draco. "Maybe a bit. If you aren't very familiar with muggles, at least. Which I assume you aren't." He tapped his fingers against the steering wheel. "Did you know your family once tried to marry a muggle? The Queen?"

"I'm not," Draco promised, holing on to his seat and trying to seem more relaxed than he was. The car moved just a little bit fast, although if he imagined it was a broom it wasn't as terrifying. He missed flying. "My parents never really saw the point of making me learn about them."

He glanced at Rex and laughed, raising an eyebrow at him. "How did you find that out?" Draco asked. "I know all about my family history, but we try and keep that sort of thing quiet. It was before the statute of secrecy passed. And look at my grandfather and Tom. Malfoys like power. It's understandable."

"Binns. Doesn't everyone have Binns for history?" he asked. He hesitated for a moment, thinking about how to explain Charlie Weasley and what had happened to someone who couldn't know all the details of it.

"It's complicated," Draco said, leaning back in his seat. "When I lost my memories he got wiped out completely and then things were... It's difficult to explain." He shrugged. "Honestly, it's probably better if I don't go into it." He looked at Rex and smiled. "I like this music. The car isn't as terrifying as I thought it was going to be anymore. It's a bit like flying."
