Who: Kirley Duke and Meghan McCormack
What: Lunch! Even celebrities eat y'know.
Where: 3 B's, Hogsmeade
When: Friday 30th March, 1999 (backdated because I'm failface and didn't remember to post)
Rating: G
Status: incomplete

Kirley finished the last of his cigarette and flicked the butt out over the deck railing into the river. He never smoked inside the boat; it wasn’t fair on his drummer to pollute his air, especially as O didn’t smoke. Ducking back inside, he grabbed the bag containing the items for his sister and shouted goodbye to Orsino before apparating.

He didn’t bump into anyone on his way to the Three Broomsticks, which was lucky, but he chatted with Rosie once he arrived. The older witch always greeted him like an old friend whenever he came back to her pub and took more than a little delight telling whichever regular was closest about the ‘wee scrap of a boy’, he was before he became famous.

Ordering a dark rum, he perched himself on one of the overly tall barstools and waited for his sister to turn up. He wasn’t usually the first to arrive, but Meghan had probably been cornered by a Portree supported, just like she’d predicted. Swirling the drink around his glass, he took a sip, then another, until the glass was empty and he had to order a refill.

Meghan's morning was going smoothly. She had woke up at five and when for a morning run for a good hour before stopping at the bakery in town and picking up some bread for toast and maybe some sandwiches later. The owner of the bakery always tried to slip a little treat in Meghan's bag, but Meghan always handed it back - it was hard being an athlete when cake was offered for nothing but like all careers sacrifices had to be made.

Going back to her little flat, Meghan went about the rest of her morning routine until it was time to meet up with her brother. Dark denim jeans teamed with a simple white tshirt and jacket made up her outfit - casual enough to be comfy but not enough for some rubbish to be written about her being a 'celebrity crying out for help' (which they had written about her two years ago - not that she cared but apparently the management of the Prides did).

She apparated to Hogsmeade and walked the path to the Three Broomsticks at a medium pace, knowing she was early. Then, of course, a young girl came rushing over from Honeydukes and asked politely for an autograph, which Meghan happily gave and chatted to the girl and her mother for a bit. A few others noticed and more autographs were handed out - seven in total - and then Meghan made her way to the Three Broomsticks. Once inside, she didn't have to look for long till she spotted a familiar mop of hair sitting at the bar.

"Been waiting long?" Meg slid onto the stool next to Kirley after a nod in greeting to Rosie, who was busy with another customer. "Seven autographs today. One for a young boy fresh out of Hogwarts who thinks the Prides suck but I have a nice... well, you get the idea." Meghan looked down at her front and then back up, little smile on her face. "So how was your morning?"

'Nope this is only my second.' Kirley grinned at his sister and then reached over to give her a warm hug. Nodding in understanding as she explained the autographs, a cheeky smirk curved his lips as he finished her sentence for her, 'rack?' A bark of laughter followed the word, noting his sister's little smile. 'Want me to go tell him off? Y'know, act all big brotherly?'

He knew she wouldn't take him up on the offer, of the two, Meghan was probably the scarier sibling anyway. No-one took K seriously when he tried being threatening. At least not until after he'd nutted them. 'Oh, y'know, the usual. Played guitar, wrote some lyrics, had a smoke. Sat and watched Orsino play drums for a bit.' The guitarist shrugged, trying to hide the little smile that came to his lips as he spoke his drummer's name.

'How was your run?'

Meghan hugged back before sitting back in her seat and nodding when he finished her sentence, chuckling when he suggested he go and act all big brotherly. "If you want. Just look for the kid with 'Meghan McHotrack' signed on his tshirt. Poor kid, probably won't get a knut when he tries to sell it as an authentic autograph to Quality Quidditch Supplies." The tone in her voice said she wasn't feeling sorry for the boy at all. Meghan was generous when it came to fans, but not those out to make a few galleons off her name. It wasn't fair to the true fans and Meghan was all about fair play and honesty.

Unfortuantly for her brother, Meghan knew him too well to know when he was hiding something. Even something as small as a smile. A knowing look crossed over her face when Kirley brought up Orsino but she decided to be nice for once and let Kirley think his smile was secret.

"Aye, good. Miss running with the other players, though. The competition of it, y'know?" Meghan replied mimicking her brother's trademark word with a playful grin before turning a smile to Rosie and ordering a drink. "Another?" She offered Kirley while the lady of the Three Broomsticks served her her drink. "Or do you want to order some food?"

'Meghan McHotrack sounds like your porn star name.' He smirked, then widened his eyes, looking serious. 'Promise me you'll never take that up as a sideline.' He managed to keep a straight face for all of two seconds before giggling.

'Aye, I know, you and Mum are competitive to the max. Why don't you go and run with her sometime? I'd offer, but it wouldn't be much of a race I'm afraid.' Kirley grinned suddenly. 'Of course, I could always skate along next to you. Only,' his face fell into a little pout, 'we'd have to be on pavement. Not good for knees and running.'

Tilting his head in mock thought, he smiled. 'Aye, go on, I'll have another. We'll order food too, I know that look in your eye, Munchkin.'

"But Kirley, I need something to do if Quidditch falls through. With all these younger players coming into the game, I should keep my options open to an alternative career." Meghan replied without missing a beat in the two seconds her older brother kept his straight face. She giggled right along with him, showing she wasn't at all serious. Their Mum would disown her.

"I'll ask Mum. Maybe you and Dad can join us for breakfast afterwards." Meghan suggested, trying to wipe the pout off Kirley's face. Between Meghan's Quidditch games and Kirley's tours and recording albums, it was hard to spend time as a family.

Meghan's nose wrinkled a little at the nickname but knew it wasn't said out of malice. "Munchkin now, is it?" She asked, taking a sip of the drink Rosie had just served her. "Does that make you the Duke of the Lollipop Guild?"
