And then she had to smile, of course, which just made it that much harder to think of anything else. Still, when Augusta grabbed his hand Geoff was startled back into a semblance of thinking, and cleared his throat again, allowing Augusta to pull him through the entry. "Of, of course."
There was another awkward moment as Geoffrey tried to comprehend how he wasn't supposed to be sorry - had she meant to do that, then? - and he looked painfully relieved when Augusta brought his attention back to the reason they were there in the first place. "Ah, right...um..." Focusing on the task at hand rather than Augusta or the questions he wanted to ask was easier, and he relaxed a little. "Well, when did you last have it? And where did you go since then?"
It was usually best to take a logical approach, after all.
