hmm so maybe when they first became friends he came over a lot until something tipped off her parents and they kind of freaked? she wouldn't understand why they're upset (they kind of have opposite opinions when it comes to that sort of thing) but she cares about her family enough that she'd feel bad & maybe slow their friendship up or limit it to school.
