Shay, although tired, hadn't slept a wink on the flight. Once Elijah had fallen asleep, Shay continued to speak to his mother in quiet tones all through the flight. He was talking a mile a minute, trying to fill her in on everything that had happened, avoiding some of the very bad things. But that was Shay, get it out and get it over with. Talking was his own best therapy.

Once landed, Shay felt much better for having talked with his mother. He leaned over and kissed Elijah's cheek before helping the three of them off the plane, his loud and boisterous self. "Coming through!" he said with a moderate amount of glee. Marcy didn't exactly have luggage, so baggage claim was avoidable and before he knew it, they were in a taxi home. Home, Shay thought to himself. He would miss his studio, but home was where he stayed at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Home was where he went when he got sick so his mom could take care of him.

The house itself was rather small, but newly built and nicely furnished. Shay had made a down payment on it for his mother once he was getting paid well and had been helping with the mortgage payments every now and again when she needed it. Going inside, Shay took Elijah's hand and raced them up to the spare bedroom, which was mostly just Shay's room since Marcy didn't have guests stay over all that much.
