"Hi," Ruby greeted Laura back, emulating Laura's friendly manner. "It isn't a problem at all," she said with a well practised smile. (As most of her expressions tend to be well practised and controlled.)
"Well thank you," Ruby said, helping herself to a cherry. She bit one half off, discarded the pit and then ate the rest of it.
"I find it more difficult fighting off their generosity than anything else."
One the older Slytherin girls had shown her the entrance to the kitchen awhile ago and she was just appalled at the behaviour of the House Elves. She hadn't seen one before in her life as she wasn't particularly wealthy, but they seemed to act as if she and her companion on the kitchen run were starving children.
