Oh, shit, she'd forgotten he didn't like to be called Stew. Oh well, water under the bridge etcetera.
"Melanie hasn't told me much of anything lately," she smiled. "I think I might have weirded her out with a couple of things I've been thinking about lately. She's not oomfortable with discussing them with me, and... I need someone to talk to."
He seemed very non comittal as he answered her question, and Laura envied him a little for his ease. She wished she was so comfortable with herself that she could tell the world what she was thinking. "Honestly? I think I might be, too."
Saying it outloud for the first time - writing it in journals didn't count - was like letting out a breath she hadn't known she was holding. But at the same time, she was terrified that he would think she was making fun of him, taking the mickey, and refuse to talk to her about it. She needed him, for guidance, for clarity... for a friend, if nothing else, and if he rejected her now, she didn't know what she would do.
